  1. Atoms, Symbols and Equations v 2.1  ⌐Ray Le Couteur 1996-1999

  3. SHAREWARE
  4. Atoms, Symbols and Equations is Shareware ('try before you buy software'). If you 
  5. wish to continue using it after a 30 day trial, you must register (pay for) it.
  6.  
  7. OVERVIEW 
  8. A unique interactive Multimedia Chemistry Tutor which tests students as they learn 
  9. (it uses the internal speaker if you don't have a soundcard). There are 8 teaching
  10. units which gradually build up Chemical knowledge from the very beginning. Concepts
  11. are simplified in the early units and explained in more detail later in the
  12. program.

  14. OPTIONS
  15. There is an option to 'trap' the user within a unit once started (to help 
  16. teachers ensure that pupils stay on task), with a password required to exit. 
  17. The decision whether to trap users and the password can be changed by running 
  18. the program 'options.exe'(click on the 'Change Options' icon in the  'Atoms
  19. Symbols & Equations' group or folder).

  21. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  22. Almost any computer running Windows 3.1/95/98 (PC 386 or above, 4mb ram,
  23. vga/svga monitor).

  25. INSTALLATION
  26. Unzip, if necessary, and run 'Setup' and follow simple on-screen instructions.
  27. In the case of the self extracting version, simply run 'chemxa20.exe' instead.

  29. Note: the shared file, vbrun300.dll, is installed into the program folder/directory
  30. (c:\equation by default). This avoids conflicts during uninstallation and makes 
  31. installation over a network more straightforward. If you are sure that vbrun300.dll
  32. is already on your system, you can safely delete the copy in the program 
  33. folder/directory.

  35. NETWORK INSTALLATION 
  36. Installation should be carried out by the network administrator and should
  37. be very easy, as all required files are installed into the single program
  38. directory. However, security measures can prevent files being installed or the
  39. installation of icons in the programs menu.

  41. The uninstall icon should not be available to network users.
  42.  
  43. UNINSTALL
  44. Simply click on the uninstall icon to remove 'Atoms, Symbols and Equations' 
  45. from your system.
  46.  
  47. RUNNING THE PROGRAM
  48. Win 3.1 
  49. Click on the 'equations' icon in the 'Atoms Symbols & Equations' group which will
  50. be on your desktop.
  51.  
  52. Win95/98
  53. From the start menu, select programs and then the 'Atoms Symbols & Equations' 
  54. folder. Select the 'equations' icon to run the program.
  55.  
  56. YEAR 2000
  57. The program has been tested for Year 2000 compliancy.
