Triage 1.3
----------
Introduction
------------
This is the final and complete release of Triage 1.3.x
As of version 1.2.x Triage supports Windows 98.
Triage Installation
-------------------
On NT 4.0, you need SP3 (Service Pack 3) to install Triage.
Version 1.3.0
-------------
- Fixed bug in detecting hardware and operating system information
- Added ability to save the audit report in a .tra file (not just a .cab file)
If attachments are included in the profile, the attached files are copied
to the same directory as the .tra file.
- Fixed long time hang when attempting to connect to disconnected mapped drives.
Version 1.2.9
-------------
- Fixed bug when creating CAB file in TriageClient.
Version 1.2.8
-------------
- TriageClient can now read a file that contains the command line arguments.
The file must be called _triage.cmd and must reside in the same directory as
TriageClient.exe. The file must have a single line that contains the required
command line arguments.
Version 1.2.7
-------------
- Fixed problem in TriageClient where if TMP environment variable
was pointing to an invalid folder, TriageClient would fail sending
the e-mail message
- Fixed problem in Triage Wizard to allow '/' in the Product Name.
- Added new command line argument to TriageClient to start hidden.
Syntax: TriageClient.exe /profile="myprofile.trp" /save="myaudit.tra" /hidden="1"
For additional TriageClient arguments, please refer to the help.
Version 1.2.6
-------------
- Fixed problem in Triage Wizard when signing cab files. If the
Product Name contained a space, the signing would fail.
Version 1.2.5
-------------
- Added support for automatically signing CAB file with Microsoft
Authenticode TM technology.
- Added Support for attaching binary files to Triage. All files
specified in the Copy Files section of the Triage Wizard will
now be attached to the (cab) audit report. The audit report is
now always saved and e-mailed as a cab file.
- TriageClient used to display message boxes when unable to open
some registry keys on NT due to restricted permissions on these
keys. TriageClient will no longer display these error messages.
- Fixed bug in generating Web Package.
- Fixed font problem where on some systems, TriageClient would
be displayed squished!
Version 1.2.4
-------------
- Fixes a bug in the Triage Analyzer when comparing the reference
the report with an audit report.
- Hardware detection - Now supports devices of type "Other".
- Triage Wizard - File Information - You can now use macros in the
File Information dialog. When you use a macro, if the file is found
in the specified folder, a single occurence of the file is returned,
otherwise, all occurences of the file on the user's system are
returned.
This feature is useful in a scenario where you want to compare
files in 2 different directories. Create a macro that identifies
the first directory and create a profile containing all the files
to be compared. Make sure you use the macro to identify the files.
Run Triage Client with this profile and generate a Reference report.
Then, modify you macro (in the registry) to point to the second
directory. Run Triage Client again, and generate the Audit Report.
Then, use the Triage Analyzer to compare the reports.
- Triage Wizard - DLL Dependencies - Now support Visual C++ 6.0 generated
DLLs and executables. The Dependencies are no longer displayed
in a tree view but rather a flat list of all the dependent DLLs.
- Detection of ActiveX Controls now supports 16 bit OCX and VBX.
Updates to the Help
-------------------
Triage Client has an additional command line argument /smtp.
The syntax is as follows:
TriageClient.exe /profile="myprofile.trp" /mail="me@metaquest.com" /smtp="smtp.hip.cam.org"

Upgrading From An Earlier Release
---------------------------------
If you are upgrading from an earlier release you should regenerate your
profiles. (Start the Wizard, load your existing profile, and save the
profile.) Repeat the same step for all your templates.
Audit reports should also be regenerated. Changes were made to Triage
Analyzer which prevents it from correctly reading older audit reports.
