- Thank you for trying out the new version of our plugin. I think you will find that this
- version offers a significant improvement in both user interface and capability over the
- previous Procedural Generator plugin.
-
- This .TSX plug-in, formerly known as the Procedural Generator, allows you to randomize
- any of the components of a TrueSpace Procedural Texture (Granite, Marble, and Wood), and
- also allows you to generate random materials (Metal, Glass, and Plastic). Any parameter
- can be toggled on or off, allowing for similar variations once you find something you
- are interested in. This version also includes a special texture generator allowing you
- to generate random stained glass, clouds, dirt maps, and true renditions of the procedural
- textures (Granite, Marble, and Wood).
-
- To use this plugin, place it in your TS3/TSX directory and add it through the 3D plugin
- panel.
-
- This plugin is being distributed as FreeWare. You are welcome to use it as much and
- as often as you like. Be sure to check out the image on our web site that was produced
- using only Material-Generator textures (True Wood and True Granite).
-
-
-
- CHANGES SINCE THIS WAS THE "PROCEDURAL GENERATOR":
-
- The UI has been completely revamped. All done in TrueSpace, of course.
-
- Four new panels (used to be tabs) have been added:
- Metal - Generate random metallic textures
- Plastic - Generate random plastic textures
- Glass - Generate random glass textures
- Special - The special category offers the following "special" random textures:
- Stained Glass - Controlled value random granite
- Clouds - Controlled value random clouds. Use on a sphere just slightly larger
- than your planet, or on a plane just in front of your sky-plane.
- Dirt - Semi-transparent brown-hued marble. Place just over the normal textures
- of an object to make it look dirty.
- "True" Wood, "True" Marble, and "True" Granite - With these settings, the random
- values generated by the Material Generator are constrained to create usable
- procedural textures with appropriate colors, turbulence, etc.
-
- Notes:
-
- - You may want to store the textures you like in a Material Library
- so you can go back to them later!
- - Prior to the final 3.1 release, transparency values would jump randomly when
- using the API to get the current texture and replace it (with no changes), so
- it is not possible in this plug in to keep the current transparency level for
- a texture. This may have been fixed in 3.1 final, but I have not gone back to
- verify this. If it has, I'll release an update to allow this feature.
