  4.     Update of the European MDMZYXOI.INF modem definition script file
  5.      for the ZyXEL Omni TA128 ISDN dualported V.24 terminal adapter

  8.                This INF file is for both operating systems:
  9.                      Microsoft Windows95 v4.00.950.B
  10.                      Microsoft WindowsNT v4.00.1381

  16. note: there exist several INF files for different ZyXEL modems now:

  18.  MDMZYXEL.INF ....  for the ZyXEL U-1496xx modem series
  19.  MDMZYXLG.INF ....  is the "all-in-one" INF file for Elite & Omni series
  20.                     (for Omni TA128 firmware version up to v1.01)
  21.  MDMZYXOI.INF ...   is the new "stand-alone" INF file for the
  22.                     ZyXEL Omni TA128 ISDN dualported V.24 terminal adapter
  23.                     with firmware version v2.00 only !

  26. Please copy this new "MDMZYXOI.INF" (internal rev. 14, 12/13/1996) into your
  27. "\WINDOWS\INF\" directory (which is a hidden (!) directory). Check that there
  28. does not exist any "OEMn.INF" (n is a digit) files for other ZyXEL modems.
  29. You'll have to look into the "OEMn.INF" by opening it with the NOTEPAD.EXE
  30. (or any other ASCII editor). If the "OEMn.INF" starts with any version note
  31. which reflects to the ZyXEL modems, then please delete this file !

  33. Install your ZyXEL Omni TA128 with firmware v2.00 by using the "modems"
  34. wizard in the control panel - the Windows95 registry will be updated
  35. automatically then.

  38. following modifications and enhancements have been done:
  39. --------------------------------------------------------
  40. internal version 15 (12/16/96)
  41.    + fixed the wrong init counter (HKLM,Init,3,,"ATB40....")
  42.      into HKLM,Init,2,,"....." for Finland's "Kolumbus 64k and 128k" entries
  43. internal version 14 (12/13/96)
  44.    + first public release of this "stand-alone" INF, for TA128 f/w v2.00 only
  45.    + added Plug&Play identification for all country codes
  46.    + added Plug&Play identification for the USA, 1TR6, KT-1B, KT-10A, DSS1,
  47.      JAPAN and TAIWAN ISDN switches, based on different firmware files and
  48.      country codes.
  49.    + special Plug&Play feature in Sweden (for "Telia Internet") and in
  50.      Finland (for "Kolumbus" Internet Service Provider), dependend on the
  51.      country codes.
  52.    + special modem entry for the "ZyXEL Internet Configuration Manager",
  53.      a Windows-based utility, still in alpha-test, which will be released
  54.      in the near future.
  55.    + based on the MDMZYXLG.INF (rev. 53) for Elite & Omni series

  58. LOGWIN.EXE and LOGGER.VXD
  59. -------------------------
  60.    This is a utility (copyrighted by Microsoft) which lets you watch the
  61.    logfile and trace information of the "MODEMLOG.TXT" (for the AT commands
  62.    and modem responses) and the "PPPLOG.TXT" (PPP trace information) in a
  63.    window ONLINE (!), that is WHILE IT HAPPENS !

  66.    how to install it ?
  67.    -------------------
  68.    + manually copy the "LOGGER.VXD" into the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ directory
  69.    + manually copy the "LOGWIN.EXE" into the \WINDOWS\ directory
  70.  
  71.    how to start it ?
  72.    -----------------
  73.    1.)  you have to enable the logfile feature in the modem's advanced
  74.         settings. Open the modems wizard applet which you will find under
  75.         "Start | Settings | Control Panel | Modems",
  76.         then select any modem entry and click on the "Properties" button
  77.         and enable the "Record to a logfile" on the "Connection , Advanced"
  78.         dialog box. In this INF file it is already pre-selected, so normally
  79.         you don't need this step. If the "LOGWIN" utility is not used, then
  80.         Windows95 or WindowsNT4 will create a file "MODEMLOG.TXT" in the
  81.         \WINDOWS\ directory (or \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ under WindowsNT4)
  82.  
  83.    2.)  if you want to enable the "PPPLOG.TXT" logfile feature, you must
  84.         enable it in the advanced network settings for the "dial-up adapter":
  85.         Open the network wizard applet which you will find under
  86.         "Start | Settings | Control Panel | Network". Then select the
  87.         "dial-up adapter", click on the "properties" button and choose the
  88.         "advanced" dialox box. There the value for the "Record a log file"
  89.         property must be set to "yes"
  90.  
  91.    3.)  manually start the "LOGWIN.EXE" before dialing whenever you want to
  92.         watch or debug the INF files !
  93.  
  94.    Originally this utility is included in the MODEMDEV.EXE ("modem development
  95.    kit", which is publically available on Microsoft's FTP Internet Server.

  100. note: because ZyXEL R&D Dept. Taiwan is developing many new features this
  101.       MDMZYXOI.INF will also be modified again in the future !
