  6. This release note describes the enhancement and bug fixes in ZyXEL
  7. Prestige version 1.2.

  10. To Upgrade Prestige
  11. -------------------
  12.  
  13. Get the files from ZyXEL anonymouse FTP server (ftp.zyxel.com). Upgrade
  14. you Prestige by the following instruction.
  15.

  26.        For beta hardware, please use the following commands for
  27.        uploading:
  28.          atux3,6   for ras.3-6
  29.          atux11,13 for ras.b-c   ( note: not atux11,12 )
  30.          Note: if any beta system that cannot use atux3,6 command,
  31.                please try atur to load ras.3-b, if this still fail,
  32.                then send us your bootmodule version and your MAC
  33.                address.

  46. New Enhancement in version 1.2
  47. ------------------------------
  48.  
  49. 1.  CCP support
  50.     . Menu 11.2 'Remote Node PPP Option' can turn on STAC
  51.       Compression.
  52.     . Menu 11.2 add a new field 'Encapsulation' for 'Standard
  53.       PPP' or 'CISCO', since CISCO compression is different
  54.       from other CCP implementation.
  55.     . Default compression option is off.
  56. 2.  MSN support
  57.     . New Menu 2 for DSS1 and 1TR6. (Refer to Appendix A for new Menu.)
  58.     . Support MSN 
  59. 3.  CLID authentication enhancement
  60.     . CLID can put in '?' for wild card of one digit.
  61. 4.  Call control
  62.     . Budget Management
  63.       - Each remote node can set a 'buget' outcall time for a 
  64.         configurable time interval
  65.       - Menu 24.9 to display current status and allow reset for each
  66.         remote node.
  67.       - All dial-in users in Menu 14 share one budget for callback
  68.         time. The value can be set in Menu 13 'Default Dial-in Setup'.
  69.       - Default 'budget' is set to 0 for no buget control
  70.    . Black list
  71.       - Two parameters:
  72.         Retry Count: how many times outcall failure will be tried.
  73.         Retry Timer: elapse time before next call attempt.
  74.       - Prestige maintain a list of 'unreachable' phone numbers.
  75.         Once a phone number outcall times exceed the 'Retry Count',
  76.         it will be put into this list, and the system admin must
  77.         manually enable the number before it can be dialed again.
  78.       - Default 'Retry Count' is set to 0 for no limitation.
  79. 5.  Outgoing authentication protocol
  80.     Remote node can set the outgoing authentication protocol (PAP
  81.     or CHAP ) in Menu 11.
  82. 6.  Modem/ISDN TA emulation mode support
  83.     SMT 24 will provide one option to go to Modem emulation mode, 
  84.     and user can temperally use the Prestige and RS232 connection
  85.     as a regular modem to dial out.
  86.     Note: This emulation mode provide restricted modem function, 
  87.           you can enter this mode and stay in the terminal
  88.           emulation software and make a modem outcall to places 
  89.           such as BBS. User can use 'atdm' to dial out as modem,
  90.           and use '+++' and 'ath' to drop the line. To end the 
  91.           modem emulation mode, enter '+++++' will restart the
  92.           system.
  93. 7.  X.75 and V.120 Support for DSS1 and 1TR6
  94.     . Remote node can select X.75 or V.120 in Telco option for
  95.       outcall protocol.
  96.     . Incoming call protocol can be dectected automatically (no
  97.       setup needed from user.)
  98. 8.  BOD default will be turned off. The screen will be as follows:
  99.       Base Trans Rate(Kbps)= 64
  100.       Max Trans Rate(Kbps)= 64
  101. 9.  ISDN link status detection
  102.     If ISDN line is disconnected the ISDN firmware can detecte it and
  103.     Menu24.1 will show 'Down' for the link status of both B1 and B2.
  104.     When ISDN is plug back in, user need to do Menu 24.4.3 'ISDN
  105.     reset' to initialize the ISDN line again.
  106. 10. New CI command for setting CLID callback time
  107.     CLID callback starting time can be set through a CI command:
  108.     'dial timeout callback <seconds>'
  109.     This means that after Prestige use CLID authenticate one incoming
  110.     call, it will delay <seconds> before starting call back. The
  111.     default is 5 seconds.

  114. Bug fixes
  115. ---------
  116.  
  117. 1.  Disable one IP remote node, but the packets to that remote node 
  118.     will not be routed to 'default' route until system reset.
  119. 2.  Menu 24.1 CLU and ALU is working properly.
  120. 3.  Telnet hangs in Menu 24.1
  121. 4.  DSS1 ISDN loop back test would fail sometimes.
  122. 5.  Fixed SUA FTP and Telnet to some slow sites problem.
  123. 6.  CCP problem with Cisco CCP.
  124. 7.  Menu 24.1 CLU and ALU is working properly for dial-in user.
  125. 8.  X.75 packet size problem solved.
  126. 9.  For US switch types, problem with channel usage setting to switch/
  127.     unused sometimes the system cannot answer incoming calls is solved.
  128. 10. B2 TX/RX LED flickering problem solved.

  131. Known problems list
  132. -------------------
  133.  
  134. 1. Some ISDN firmware problems:
  135.    - sometimes firmware will reset by itself when the traffic is
  136.      heavy on a modem connection. 
  137.    - X.75/V.120 under heavy traffic will cause the firmware reset,
  138.      and Prestige will go into Debug mode.
  139.    - heavy use of POTS (A/B adapter), sometimes will cause the ISDN
  140.      firmware reset, and the system has to be reboot.
  141.    - Global digital call will still be answered if MSN selected as 
  142.      'incoming call matching' method.
  143. 2. Modem Emulation mode does not support Win95 FAX program or Dial-up
  144.    network in this release.
  145. 3. When ISDN detects link is down, and after the link is back, you have
  146.    to manually initialize the ISDN by 'isdn init' command in CI or 
  147.    select 'ISDN Reset' in Menu 24.4.3.

  191.      Data field. In both switches, if the 'ISDN Data' is not entered,
  192.      then Menu 2 will skip loopback test.
  193.    . If Dial Prefix is entered, then loopback will dial the 'Prefix
  194.      number' + 'PABX number (incl. S/T bus number)' + 'Subaddress' (if
  195.      any). If the 'PABX number' is not entered, Menu 2 will skip loopback

  226. Bug fixes:

  228. 1. Prestige can't make DOVBS call until a 64K data call problem
  229.    is fixed.
  230. 2. Prestige modem call can't do PPP negotiation with Ascend MAX
  231.    problem is fixed.
  232. 3. Generic filter can filter the NetBIOS munticast packet from 
  233.    triggering a call.
  234. 4. In Menu 24.4.12, fixed print out 'garbage' characters in 'Host
  235.    IP address' field.
  236. 5. Incoming analog call to modem, when there is no modem negotiation,
  237.    the call will fall back to fax negotiation.

  240. Enhancement:

  242. 1. For DSS1 and 1TR6 switch, take out spid setting in Menu 2.
  243. 2. Telco option seclections:
  244.    . Northern American: 64K or 56K, 64K always, 56K always, DOVBS
  245.                         Modem
  246.    . DSS1 and 1TR6 : 64K always, Modem
  247. 3. Menu 4 ISP setup:
  248.    . Make the ISP address optional.
  249.    . Make login name/password optional.
  250.    . ISP testing will preform the function same as 'Manual dial' 
  251.      instead of ping to the ISP address.
  252.    . Add a call type (Telco) selection.
  253.    . Take out filter in Menu 4.
  254. 4. Longer login name in Menu 4 and Menu 11 for outgoing. ( up to
  255.    24 characters.)
  256. 5. Calling party ID setup in Menu 2 for DSS1 or 1TR6:
  257.    . if '/' is used, then use the number after '/'
  258.    . if no '/', then use the whole number to setup calling party 
  259.      ID
  260. 6. Add a CI command to change the timeout value in setup a call 
  261.    and the default value is changed to 10 seconds.
  262.    New commands:

  266. 7. BOD option in PPP Multiple Link Option ( Menu 11.1 )
