  11.  1.The answer site will hang if "&K3Q2", or,"&K3Q1" is set and chars are

  14.  2.Sometimes the files will stop transfering when the modem works in MNP
  15.    protocol.
  16.  3.Sometimes the modem with muti-auto setting will connect into fax with
  17.    Motorola V.32 mode.
  18.  4.The modem does not response "NO CARRIER" when error control hanshaking
  19.    fails.
  20.  5.In 3-wire (Tx,Rx,GND) DTE to DCE configuration, the file receiving will
  21.    stop in leased line, if you pull out and plug in continuously the 3-wire
  22.    connector.

  90.  1. Fixed modem bugs:
  91.  --------------------
  92.     1) Special dialing feature:
  93.        .Modem does not finish dialing of numbers specified after P modifier
  94.         and hangs for a time specified in S7 register. For example when
  95.         "ATDT9WP8W10-886-3-578-7045" is entered, modem will report
  96.         "NO CARRIER".
  97.        .When bit 4 or register S35 is set, the modem will not dial the
  98.         default phone number while the user press the DATA/VOICE switch in
  99.         synchronous operation mode.
  100.     2) AT command and response:
  101.        .When "AT&FX0" command is entered, the modem will report connect
  102.         message as "CONNECT 38400" instead of "CONNECT" only.
  103.        .When "ATM2" command is entered, modem will turn speaker off when
  104.         retrain happened in ZyCell mode.
  105.        .The modem does not prompt the hint message and erase the flash
  106.         memory directly while the user keyin the "ATUPX" command with "ATQ1"
  107.         disabling sending result code.
  108.        .When the "AT&N65" command is entered, the modem will report some
  109.         additional blanks in the "Last Speed/Protocol" field of "ATI2"
  110.         command.
  111.        .When "AT&M2X0" command is entered, the modem will response garbage
  112.         and one more CR after connect message "CONNECT ".
  113.        .When direct mode "AT&M2" command is entered,the modem will not send
  114.         file correctly with 8E1 in data state.
  115.        .When "LF" is entered after "AT<CR>" command in escape state, modem
  116.         does not response "OK"
  117.     3) Security function:
  118.        .When the call and anwer modems are entered with "AT&K0" and
  119.         "ATS0=1*G5" respectively, the call modem can not enter the call
  120.         back number after the connection.
  121.        .When two Elite modems entered with the "AT&F&T4*F1S2=61" and "ATS0=1
  122.         &T4*F1*G5" in call and answer mode respectively, the call modem can
  123.         not read the remote configuration successfully.
  124.        .When the level 2 security function is enabled, modem will request the
  125.         user to key in the password with the "Password" prompt instead of
  126.         "PassWord". Note that the "PassWord" prompt is used in ZyXEL U-series
  127.         modem.
  128.     4) Physical layer stability:
  129.        .ZyCell protcol can not accept any data from the remote site after
  130.         the connect message.
  131.        .When the "ATX6&N16&T1" is entered, modem will report "NO CARRIER" and
  132.         modem will turn on CD when issue the "AT" command after the report.
  133.        .Modem can not connect with Supra modem with V.34 mode under some
  134.         worst line condition.
  135.        .Modem will get a lower speed than the inital handshaking when the
  136.         retrain procedues happened oftenly in data state.
  137.     5) Link Layer compatibility:
  138.        .There is a compatbility problem with "Octocom" modem. When ZyXEL
  139.         calls it with V.22bis/MNP4 mode, ZyXEL modem can not accept any
  140.         data from it after the connect meessage be displayed.
  141.        .In Italy, ZyXEL modem can only connect Digicom modem with error
  142.         control mode under 26400 bps link speed. For 28800 bps link speed,
  143.         the connection is non error control mode.
  144.        .There are some characters will be missed in file transmission when
  145.         software flow control XON/XOFF (&H4) is enabled.
  146.     6) V.25bis command set:
  147.        .Modem will not support use profile 2 to make a connection with AS/400.
  148.     7) Error control procedure:
  149.        .Improve the efficent in echo delay testing and file transfer with
  150.         XMODEM protcol.
  151.     8) Diagnostic feature:
  152.        When the call and answer modems are entered with "AT&F&T4&K3" and
  153.        "AT&F&D0S0=1&T4" respectively, the TST LED of calling modem will turns
  154.        on after the connection.

  156.  2. Fixed fax bugs:
  157.  ------------------
  158.     1) If user want to print a fax, user issue "AT+FZP<CR>" and there
  159.        should be <1F><OK> response from modem. But this does not happen
  160.        and will cause problems in writing the application for this function.
  161.     2) Cannot receive a fax correctly after a V.34 data connection:
  162.     3) The modem will report incorrect result code to ZFAX when there are
  163.        incomfing fax stored in DRAM and ZFAX try to retieve fax from modem.
  164.     4) Setting the modem with AT+FZF=1, 4 or 5 and DTR is off, the modem
  165.        will answer the modem call instead of dropping the modem call.
  166.     5) When modem stayes in DRAM fax reciving mode (clsaa Z, +fzf=2) without
  167.        RS-232 cable, modem can not accept AT command anymore after reciving
  168.        a fax and plug in the RS232 cable.
  169.     6) When modem stayes in class Z service, modem can not make an outgoing
  170.        data call.

  172.  3. Added new feature:
  173.  ---------------------
  174.     User can issue an "ATI12" command to get the physical layer parameters
  175.     choosed in V.34 mode. This information is reliable only in the escape
  176.     state. Since the Near End echo and Far End echo reports are not ready,
  177.     they will be filled with "-xx.x" and will be implemented asap.

  214.     1) Russian CNI feature:
  215.        .Can not detect the CNI message in Russia with E2864L modem:
  216.         After answering the incoming call in Russia, modem will report
  217.         incorrect CNI message as "CALLER'S NUMBER: ?".
  218.        .Incorrect CNI report in Russia:
  219.         After answering the incoming call in Russia, modem will report CNI
  220.         message with an additional "0x00" null character before the actual
  221.         CNI number.
  222.     2) Special dialing feature:
  223.        .Cannot use off to on transition of DTR signal to initiate dialing:
  224.         When the "AT&D1&Z0=0,783942&M3" command is entered, the modem will
  225.         not dial when the DTR raises on condition.
  226.        .Failed to work with reverse dial function:
  227.         When the bit5 of status register S17 is set, the modem will not
  228.         change its role as an answer modem after completing the dialing
  229.         procedure.
  230.        .Incorrect repeat dialing with "A>" command:
  231.         When "A>" command is entered after modem resport "BUSY" in dialing
  232.         state, the modem will not repeat dialing with an redial interval
  233.         controlled by the content of status register S8.
  234.        .Cannot support up to 50 telephone numbers for dial backup:
  235.         When the "AT*B10" command is entered in E2864L model, the modem
  236.         will response "ERROR" instead of "OK".
  237.        .Store phone number incorrectly:
  238.         When the "AT&Z=138abc" command is entered, the modem will store an
  239.         incorrect phone number into the EEPROM.
  240.     3) RS232 interface procedure:
  241.        .Cannot answer incoming call automatically:
  242.         When the "AT&D0S0=1" command is entered and the RS232 cable is
  243.         disconnected, the modem will not automatically answer the incoming
  244.         call.
  245.        .Incorrect CTS delay with the content of status register S26:
  246.         If "AT&R0" command is entered in synchronous mode, the modem does
  247.         not control the CTS delay timing according to the content of S26.
  248.        .Fail to use the "CD on before the connect message is sent" feature
  249.         in *G1 security function:
  250.         If the bit3 of status register S38 is set, the modem does not turn
  251.         on the CD before sending the connect message in security function *G1
  252.     4) Error control with data compression:
  253.        .Cannot connect with MNP4/MNP5 in V.22bis mode:
  254.         When the "AT&N14&K1&T1" command is entered, the connect message
  255.         is "CONNECT 460800/V.22b 2400/None".
  256.        .Cannot connect with USR using MNP4/MNP5 error control mode:
  257.         When the "AT&K1" command is entered, the 2864 calling USR modems
  258.         will get an non-error control connection.
  259.        .Cannot connect with V42/V42b in V.22 mode:
  260.         When the "AT&N15&K4&T1" command is entered, the connect message
  261.         is "CONNECT 460800/V.22 2400/MNP5".
  262.     5) Upload new firmware:
  263.        .Cannot enter AT command after uploading firmware:
  264.         While modem connects with printer and use "ATUPX" command to upload
  265.         another firmware, the modem can not accept "AT" command anymore after
  266.         the uploading procedure.
  267.        .Disconnect the link with "ATUPXX" command:
  268.         When "ATUPXX" command is entered in escape state, the link will be
  269.         dropped.
  270.     6) AT command and response:
  271.        .Incorrect repeating last command when "A>" command is entered:
  272.         When "A>" command is entered after entering "ATH" command in escape
  273.         state, modem will report "OK" response night times.
  274.        .Incorrect product information of OMNI:
  275.         If the "ATI0" command is entered, the OMNI modem will report "2864"
  276.         instead of "288".
  277.        .Incrrorect response of AT command:
  278.         When the "ATS0=300" command is entered, the modem will response "OK"
  279.         instead of "EROOR" and the content of S0 will be set as "255".
  280.        .Incorrect connect message:
  281.         When the DTE speed of terminal equals to 300 bps and the "ATZ4&T1"
  282.         command is entered, the modem will report connect message as
  283.         "CONNECT CONNECT/V.34   9600/V42b/SREJ".
  284.        .Incorrect help message:
  285.         When the "AT*?" command is entered, the modem will display some
  286.         garbage firstly and then the help menu.
  287.        .Display one more illeage line:
  288.         When the "AT+?" command is entered, the modem will show an additional
  289.         "Strike any key when ready" at the end of each page.
  290.        .Incorrect numeric response:
  291.         When user chooses the 9600bps DTE speed and sends "AT&FX4V0" command
  292.         to modem and forces it into the ALB operation mode. The modem will
  293.         report "12" instead of "12<CR>".
  294.        .Incorrect connect message:
  295.         When the "ATX6&N16&T1" command is entered, modem will report the
  296.         connect message as "CONNECT CONNECT" instead of "CONNECT" only.
  297.        .Incorrent PnP ID of Omni:
  298.         When the "ATI9" command is entered, the Omni modem will report the
  299.         PnP-ID as "ZX0100" instead of "ZX0400".
  300.     7) Security function:
  301.        .Cannot dial the telephone number with *G2 and *G4 security function:
  302.         When *G2 and *G4 function is used, modem will not call back the last
  303.         forty telephone numbers stored in modem.
  304.        .Insecure connection with secure function *G2:
  305.         After answering the password correctly with *G2 function, the modem
  306.         will accept incoming call without checking the password before dialing
  307.         out the call back phone number.
  308.        .Hang with secure function *G2:
  309.         If the remote site does not reply the call back within 10 times, the
  310.         local modem will stay in an unknown state.
  311.        .The answer modem will hang with *G3 function:
  312.         When there is no DTE connected with modem and modem stays at the
  313.         the answer site with *G3 security function, the modem will hang if
  314.         there is an incoming call with correct password.
  315.        .Cannot use *G1 and *G2 security function in MNP5 error control mode:
  316.         When the modem enable the *G1 function with MNP error control option
  317.         and call to a ZyXEL modem, modem can not connect successfuly and
  318.         stayes in an unknown state.
  319.        .Garbage displayed in *G1 security function with non error control
  320.         mode: There is garbage be showed in terminal after the connection
  321.         message when "*G1&K0" command is entered.
  322.     8) Physical layer stability:
  323.        .Improve the sensitivity of V.29/V.27t/V.26b used in four wire leased
  324.         line operation.
  325.        .Happen deadlock when using D/V key to abort V.34 handshaking procedure:
  326.         When you try to use D/V key to abort the handsaking procedure used
  327.         V.34 leased line mode operation, the modem may happen deadlock and
  328.         can not enter into data state successfully.
  329.        .Failed to retrain in V.34 synchronous mode:
  330.         When modem stays in V.34 synchronous mode operation, modem will
  331.         not retrain successfully when the line condition of channel is varied.
  332.        .Improve the stability of V.27bis:
  333.         When the E2864L modem stays in "AT&K0&T1" ALB testing mode, there
  334.         will be a lot of garbage displayed in the screen about 10 to 20
  335.         minutes after the connection message.
  336.        .Compatible the Austrian Public Paging System II ("OePR-II"):
  337.         The modem is unable to establish a connection with public paging
  338.         system II in Austria.
  339.     9) Leased line and synchronous operation:
  340.        .Cannot re-synchronize in the leased line operation:
  341.         When modem operates in four wire leased line with V.27t/V.26b mode
  342.         and the channel is dropped for a while, the modem will not
  343.         re-synchronize when the channel is restored.
  344.        .Cannot work with synchronous slave clock mode
  345.        .Two wire leased line cannot tranceive data while one modem
  346.         switches from power off to on and the other modem stayes in retrain
  347.         state.
  348.     10) Diagnostic feature:
  349.         .The RDL function failed to work:
  350.          When there is no DTE connected with modem and modem is configured as
  351.          the RDL granted, modem will hang if the remote site initiates
  352.          the RDL action.
  353.         .Failed to work with selftest in error control mode:
  354.          When "AT&K2&T8" command is entered, the modem will not report the
  355.          connect message and hangs in an unknown state.
  356.         .Show incorrect test pattern:
  357.          When "AT&T7" command is entered in escape state, the first character
  358.          displayed in screen does not belong to the selftest pattern.
  359.         .Fail to use the remote configure feature with V.22bis mode:
  360.          When the "AT*W32" command is entered in the escape state with V.22bis
  361.          connection, the modem will report "NO CARRIER" instead of "OK".
  362.     11) V25bis command set:
  363.          Cannot dial with the V.25bis synchronous operation mode:
  364.          When you plugs out the RS232 cable and then plugs in again, the
  365.          modem can not accept the V.25bis synchronous command anymore.
  366.     12) Lockup problem:
  367.          When the rate negotiation happens about one second after the
  368.          connection, the modem lockups forever with blinking both V34 and
  369.          V32b LEDs. And can not be abort with D/V key.

  372.  2. Fixed fax bugs:
  373.  ------------------
  374.     1) Cannot answer the incoming fax with 2MB internal DRAM:
  375.        When the modem with built-in 2MB DRAM and entered with "+FCLASS=Z
  376.        +FZF=2 S0=2 &W0Z0" command, the modem will not answer the incoming
  377.        fax automatically if the DTE is turned off.
  378.     2) Cannot receive a fax correctly after a V.34 data connection:
  379.        If user switches between data and fax calling from the E2864 to
  380.        a Motorola or receiving a data call from a Motorola modem the modem
  381.        will hang up and it will no longer receive a complete fax call after
  382.        any data call.

  398.  1. Fixed modem bugs:
  399. ---------------------
  400.     1) Failed to work with the external sync clock:
  401.        In the external synchronous clock (AT&X1) mode, the modems could
  402.        connect to each other but had a lot of bit error.
  403.     2) The O288S firmware could not recognize the incoming ring signal in
  404.        Germany.
  405.     3) Modem hang when security function enabled:
  406.        When the security function was enabled by AT*G1 or AT*G2 and the
  407.        entered password was wrong, the modem should hang up and report
  408.        "NO CARRIER". But the modem hang in an unknown state.
  409.     4) Incorrect password response in security function:
  410.        When security function was enabled by AT*G5, the echoed password was
  411.        followed by "<CR>" instead of "<CR><LF>".
  412.     5) Abnormal hang-up when security function was enabled:
  413.        When the security function was enabled, the modem could not perform
  414.        analog loop back test by AT&T1 command. The modem would hang up and
  415.        report "NO CARRIER" immediately after connection made by "AT&T1"
  416.        command. With ATI2 command, the disconnect reason was shown as
  417.        "Security Check".
  418.     6) Wrong break handling:
  419.        After pressing the control-break key, the TXD LED lights up for a very
  420.        short time and the RXD LED lights up for a longer time. When the
  421.        control-break key was pressed again, only the TXD LED lights up but the
  422.        RXD LED remains off.
  423.     7) Did not report the first RING:
  424.        For example, the auto-answer mode was enabled by setting S0=1. When the
  425.        first ring signal came, the modem went off-hook directly and starts to
  426.        handshake without reporting "RING" to the DTE.
  427.     8) Compatibility problem with Penril modem:
  428.        When the modem was connecting with the Penril modem, the handshaking
  429.        would fail during the phase 2 of V.34 hand shaking procedure.
  430.     9) Wrong help message:
  431.        If the multi-language feature of Germany version was enabled (S63=1),
  432.        a wrong message "&N61 V.34b 31200" would be shown on screen with "AT&$"
  433.        command.
  434.     10) Wrong indication of AA LED:
  435.         The indication of AA LED was incorrect when the modem was set by the
  436.         following command sequence:
  437.         . AT&FS1=1&WZ :
  438.         . AT&FS0=1    : AA LED lights on and indicates auto-answer mode.
  439.         . ATZ         : AA LED lights on but the S-register S0 is equal to 0.
  440.     11) Failed to respond to the ATX0D command:
  441.         When "ATX0D;" command was entered, modem would hang and fail to
  442.         accept the AT command.
  443.     12) Could not detect incoming ring signal:
  444.         After executing "ATDxxxx;" and then "ATH" command, the modem would not
  445.         be able to recognize the incoming ring signal.
  446.     13) Failed to dial with the synchronous V.25bis command:
  447.         When the modem started dialing with the V.25bis "CRN" command, the
  448.         dialing digits did not go through and then modem went on hook.
  449.     14) Failed to perform the analog loopback with self-test (AT&T8) in the
  450.         non-error control mode (AT&K0).
  451.

  453.  2. Fixed fax bugs:
  454.  ------------------
  455.     1) Wrong result with the "ATI2" command after FAX send/receive:
  456.        After a fax connection, with the "ATI2" command, the modem reported
  457.        the last baud rate with the wrong value of "28800".
  458.     2) Improved reliability of V.21 HDLC receiving.
  459.     3) The compatibility problem with Panasonic fax machine:
  460.        When the FAX machine did not send the ANSWER tone, the modem would
  461.        disconnect the outgoing call instead of sending out the fax.
  462.     4) The problem of the Postscript FAX receiving/printing fixed.
  463.        Postscript printing margin can be configured by paper type.
  464.  
  465.  3. Fixed voice bugs:
  466.  --------------------
  467.     Incorrect RI lead indicator of RS232:
  468.     When modem went off-hook to answer the incoming call and play the voice
  469.     greeting message in the voice mode, RI lead (pin 22 of RS232) kept high.
  470.     Even aborting or terminating the voice playing, RI was still high.
  471.  
  472.  
  473.  4. New modem features:
  474.  ----------------------
  475.     1) Support Germany message display for commands:
  476.        . ATI2  : report link diagnostic status
  477.        . AT&Vn : view current active or user profile settings
  478.        . AT#B3 : measure the ring cadence
  479.        . ATDL  : dial the last-dialed number
  480.     2) When the DTE speed was set to 19200, the highest connection rate
  481.        would be limited to 19200 bps.

  486.     A fax protocol capture utility was implemented for debugging the
  487.     FAX compatibility problem.  This feature is not available for the FAX
  488.     direct printing mode.

  837.    6) Connection problem when calling tone enabled:
  838.         When the calling tone is enabled (AT&F&N0S48.2=1), the connection
  839.         made with U-1496 plus models can only reach 16800 bps (the 19200 bps
  840.         connection is not possible).
  841.    7) Wrong LED display:
  842.         When the modem is connected with ZyX 19200 or 16800 bps, the LED V34
  843.         and V32b are ON. That is OK. But when you enter "+++" escape command
  844.         and then "AT" command, the V32b LED goes OFF.
  845.    8) The S14 register does not contain the exact value of the command AT*M0
  846.         and AT*M1. For example, with command ATZ1*M1&V, the display shows the
  847.         value of S14 bit 0 is 0; with command ATZ1S14.0=1&V, the display shows
  848.         *M0.
  849.    9) The supervisory password entry can take only 7 characters:
  850.         Try setting for example password #8 but type more than 8 characters
  851.         and you will get "ERROR".
  852.   10) Problem of connecting to host with 7 data bits, even parity and 1 stop
  853.         bit protocol:
  854.         There is a problem when you try to connect to the "telebanking"
  855.         service, where 7E1 protocol is used. What is supposed to happen is
  856.         that you enter the user ID followered by <CR>, and then the host
  857.         prompts you for the password. The bug is as soon as a numeric digit
  858.         is entered, it behaves like a <CR> has been entered as well, and the
  859.         host prompts for the user-ID again. After 3 incorrect attempts, you
  860.         are automatically logged out.

  1696.         When *G2 and *G4 function is used, modem will not call back the last
  1697.         forty telephone numbers stored in modem.
  1698.        .Insecure connection with secure function *G2:
  1699.         After answering the password correctly with *G2 function, the modem
  1700.         will accept incoming call without checking the password before dialing
  1701.         out the call back phone number.
  1702.        .Hang with secure function *G2:
  1703.         If the remote site does not reply the call back within 10 times, the

  1723.        .Failed to retrain in V.34 synchronous mode:
  1724.         When modem stays in V.34 synchronous mode operation, modem will
  1725.         not retrain successfully when the line condition of channel is varied.

  1727.         When the E2864L modem stays in "AT&K0&T1" ALB testing mode, there
  1728.         will be a lot of garbage displayed in the screen about 10 to 20

  1808.        analog loop back test by AT&T1 command. The modem would hang up and
  1809.        report "NO CARRIER" immediately after connection made by "AT&T1"
  1810.        command. With ATI2 command, the disconnect reason was shown as
  1811.        "Security Check".
  1812.     6) Wrong break handling:
  1813.        After pressing the control-break key, the TXD LED lights up for a very
  1814.        short time and the RXD LED lights up for a longer time. When the
  1815.        control-break key was pressed again, only the TXD LED lights up but the
  1816.        RXD LED remains off.
  1817.     7) Did not report the first RING:
  1818.        For example, the auto-answer mode was enabled by setting S0=1. When the
  1819.        first ring signal came, the modem went off-hook directly and starts to
  1820.        handshake without reporting "RING" to the DTE.
  1821.     8) Compatibility problem with Penril modem:
  1822.        When the modem was connecting with the Penril modem, the handshaking
  1823.        would fail during the phase 2 of V.34 hand shaking procedure.
  1824.     9) Wrong help message:
  1825.        If the multi-language feature of Germany version was enabled (S63=1),
  1826.        a wrong message "&N61 V.34b 31200" would be shown on screen with "AT&$"
  1827.        command.
  1828.     10) Wrong indication of AA LED:
  1829.         The indication of AA LED was incorrect when the modem was set by the
  1830.         following command sequence:
  1831.         . AT&FS1=1&WZ :
  1832.         . AT&FS0=1    : AA LED lights on and indicates auto-answer mode.

  2243.    9) The supervisory password entry can take only 7 characters:
