FOR RENO PREMIUM DELUXE AND PRO DELUXE KIT OWNERS WITH 3-D SOUNDCARDS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
MV4000 - RENO.....This is an update.
MV5000 - Triple speed drive......This is an update.
PREMIUM 3-D....These are the same files on the Install disk version 1.0.
PRO 3-D.....These are the same files on the Install disk version 1.0.
Dear Media Vision Valued Customer,
You have just received the latest DOS & Windows drivers for your 3-D
SCSI2 sound card that came with your multimedia kit. The Windows audio
drivers fixes fast play-back on some digitally sampled audio files.
You have also received the latest NCR SCSI CD ROM drivers for the 3-D SCSI2
sound card. The NCR SCSI CD ROM drivers fixes a lock-up, when you are using
386Max as your memory manager.
We've also included the VESA BIOS Extension/Audio Interface driver
(VBEAI.COM) for your 3-D SCSI2 sound card. More details on this driver
below.
INSTALLATION:
1. Run UPDATE.BAT.
Example: UPDATE C:\MEDVSN C:\WINDOWS [Enter]
Note:The above example assumes that your Media Vision directory
is named C:\MEDVSN. If you have the Reno kit, replace C:\MEDVSN
with C:\RENO.
2. Reboot your system by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del simultaneously.

UPDATE.BAT DOES NOT EXECUTE
MANUAL INSTALLATION:
1. Copy these files to the Media Vision directory (i.e. \RENO or \MEDVSN).
Example: COPY *.* C:\MEDVSN [Enter]
2. To update the 3-D sound card's Windows drivers, copy the *.DRV, *.DLL,
*.386, *.CFG, *.PAT, and *.TXT files to your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM sub-
directory.
Example:
A).... Make a back-up of file:
REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MIDIMAP.CFG C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MIDIMAP.OLD
B).... Copy over the drivers:
COPY C:\MEDVSN\*.DRV C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM [Enter]
COPY C:\MEDVSN\*.DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM [Enter]
COPY C:\MEDVSN\*.386 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM [Enter]
COPY C:\MEDVSN\*.CFG C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM [Enter]
COPY C:\MEDVSN\*.PAT C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM [Enter]
COPY C:\MEDVSN\*.TXT C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM [Enter]
This will overwrite the old files. The above example assumes that you
copied the files to the C:\MEDVSN sub-directory.
3. Reboot your system.

VBEAI.COM (VESA Bios Extensions/Audio Interface)
VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) has responsibility for VL-bus
standard and has created the VESA BIOS Extensions/Audio Interface (VBE/AI),
a software sound standard which allows DOS software to communicate to the
Media Vision Premium 3-D Sound Card through hardware in a standardized manner.
Currently, without VBE/AI software companies must write software drivers for
every type of sound card in the market. Under VBE/AI, software companies
merely write software conforming to the VBE/AI standard to support all audio
hardware with VBE/AI drivers. The hardware companies write a single driver
to support a wide variety of software applications. If you do not use any
of the available switches, the VBEAI.COM driver automatically uses the value
(s) specified by the SET BLASTER statement (found in the AUTOEXEC.BAT).
The VBEAI.COM must be added after the SET BLASTER statement.
In the AUTOEXEC.BAT, add 'C:\RENO\vbeai.com' after the SET BLASTER statement.
(The SET BLASTER statement would have been added already by the Media Vision
QuickStart for your multimedia kit.)
Example:
set blaster=A220 I7 D1 H7 T4 P320
C:\RENO\vbeai.com
If you know your applications don't use the VBE/AI driver, you can save
10k of base memory by placing a 'REM' in front of the VBE/AI statement.
When you want to use this driver, delete the 'REM', save your AUTOEXEC.BAT
file and reboot your PC.
