  13.   The following table lists the ASPI(Advanced SCSI Programming Interface)
  14.   managers available for the Sound/CD-ROM Interface Card.

  42.      Since an I/O port is needed for the Sound/CD-ROM Interface Card, 
  43.      add this line and specify the base address at XXX using 
  44.      a hexadecimal number. The Sound/CD-ROM Interface Card occupies 
  45.      32 bytes of space starting with the specified base address. 
  46.      The factory setting is 240h(ASPISDBK.SYS is 280h).
  47.          If the specified address is already being used, specify another
  48.          base address from the following addresses. Also, depending on the
  49.          computer, the I/O port may need to be specified in the Card Manager
  50.      (ASPISMGR.SYS, ASPISDBK.SYS). Refer to your computer manual.

  53.            (220h,240h is not available in ASPISDBK.SYS)
  54.  
  55.        /SOCKET=X
  56.      When you are using a personal computer with more than two PC
  57.      Card slots, add this line and specify the PC Card slot at X meaning 
  58.      the PC Card slot you will insert the Sound/CD-ROM Interface Card in.
  59.      If you specify 0 or you don't specify the PC Card slot, the ASPI
  60.      manager searches all PC Card slots, and uses the first PC Card slot
  61.      available.
  62.  
  63.        /ADLIB
  64.          ADLIB 388h-38Bh will be opened as second I/O port.
  65.  
  66.        /INT=X
  67.        
  68.      For IRQ, you may select: 3, 5, 7 or 10(A).
  69.  
  70.      This option sets the IRQ level of the Sound/CD-ROM Interface Card 
  71.      using a hexadecimal number. The factory setting is 5.
  72.      Make sure this number does not conflict with another device.
  73.      The IRQ level is not set without this option.
  74.      If you're using the SystemSoft Card Service, choose a number from
  75.      the "IRQ=" entries in the CSALLOC.INI file.
  76.  
  77.       Option effective with ASPISDBK and ASPIS365 only
  78.  
  79.        /MEM=XXXX
  80.      Add this line and specify the memory space's base address to read
  81.      the card information by the segment address (hexadecimal number).
  82.      You need to exclude this specified address in the EMS "X" option
  83.      so that it will not overlap the region of EMS.If you don't specify
  84.      the base address, CE00 is applied, and 8 KB of memory from CE000
  85.      to CFFFF is used.

  87.       Option effective with ASPISMGR only

  89.        /BOFF
  90.      Setting this option turns off the beep sound that is generated 
  91.      when inserting or removing the Sound/CD-ROM Interface Card.

  121.      The ASPISMGR.SYS couldn't start because the Card Service program
  122.      did not load.

  125.      ∙ Reinstall the Card Service Program supplied with your computer.
  126.        If your computer did not come with a Card Service program,
  127.        a program is supplied with this player that will operate your
  128.        CD-ROM.
  129.  
  130.      ∙ Confirm the description in the CONFIG.SYS.
  131.        Check the CONFIG.SYS to make sure that the ASPISMGR.SYS is located
  132.        after the Card Service. If it is not, please edit.
  133.  
  134.      ∙ Edit the CONFIG.SYS to change the value of "X" at EMM386.EXE
  135.        (EMS driver).

  154.      The ASPISDBK.SYS couldn't start because the DataBook CardTalk isn't
  155.      running properly.

  158.      ∙ Reinstall the DataBook CardTalk supplied with your computer.

  160.      ∙ Confirm the description in the CONFIG.SYS
  161.        Check the CONFIG.SYS to make sure that the ASPISDBK.SYS is located
  162.        after the CARDTALK.SYS. If it is not, please edit.
  163.  
  164.      ∙ Edit the CONFIG.SYS to specify the "X" option of EMM386.EXE
  165.        (EMS driver). Without the "X" option or "/MEM=" option of the
  166.        ASPISDBK.SYS line, there is a possibility of overlap between
  167.        the memory from CE000h to CFFFFh and the region of EMS or ROM.
  168.        Thus, add "X=CE00-CFFF" to EMM386.EXE line.
  169.  
  170.      ∙ Make sure the value specified in "/MEM=" option agrees with the
  171.        area specified in "X" option of EMM386.EXE.
  172.  
  173.      ∙ Try to change the value of "/MEM=" option and "X" option in
  174.        EMM386.EXE.

  176.     (3) ASPIS365.SYS

  209.     (4) Common to ASPISMGR.SYS, ASPISDBK.SYS and ASPIS365.SYS

  235.          ∙ Delete "/ADLIB" option , if you do not use Adlib on DOS.

  242.      The IRQ vector which is specified at default is already being used.

  248.      from the "IRQ=" entries in the CSALLOC.INI file.

  316. 4. I/O Base Address
  317.  
  318.     You can usually use the base addresses of the I/O port listed under
  319.     the description of "/PORT=" option in the ASPI manager. (See 1-1)
  320.     However, some of them cannot be used on some computers. For example:
  321.

  330. 5. Supplement and Troubleshooting Guide
  331.  
  332.     A. Supplement
  333.  
  334.         (1) You need "Video For Windows", in order to play *.AVI file 
  335.         on Windows3.1.
  336.  
  337.     (2) Use Media Player in order to play *.MID file.
  338.  
  339.     (3) Installing D20 Sound/CD-ROM Interface Card's device driver 
  340.         disables D720 related Interface Card.
  341.         (-> See 3.CONFIG.SYS after installing software)
  342.  
  343.     (4) ID=7 cannot be set for CD-ROM drive. ID=7 is reserved for 
  344.         the Interface Card.
  345.  
  346.     (5) When using ASPIS365, some PC hang up at power on(ex. DEC425SE and
  347.             ThinkPad 350). For such PC, use "/I365RST" Option of ASPIS365.
  348.  
  349.         (6) With HP OMNIBOOk 600C, can not use the function of Adlib
  350.             compatibility on account of its hardware specification.
  351.             Please delete "/ADLIB" Option of ASPI manager in the CONFIG.SYS.
  352.  
  353.     B. Troubleshooting
  354.  
  355.     (1) The sound that accompanies the starting of Windows 
  356.         is not generated, while the driver is already installed.
  357.  
  358.          1. Make sure the cable is properly connected.
  359.          2. Make sure the Sound/CD-ROM Interface Card is properly inserted
  360.                 into the PC Card slot.
  361.          3. The I/O port or IRQ setting is not correct. 
  362.             Change the setting of Configure System in the Install Program.
  363.  
  364.         (2) Installing the driver on a PC with internal Sound Source leads 
  365.         to disabling the Internal Sound Source and applications
  366.         related to it. 
  367.         Refer to your computer manual for how to enable again the 
  368.         Internal Sound Source.
  369.  
  370.         (3) The startup of Windows might not be stable, when the Port 220 is 
  371.         specified. This is caused by an overlap with the Port (238h) 
  372.         used by Windows Mouse Driver. To avoid this situation, use 
  373.         Ports others than 220, using Configure System of Install Program.
  374.  
  375.         (4) The startup of Windows might not be stable, when the Port 260 is 
  376.         specified. This is caused by an overlap with the Printer 
  377.         Interface (270h-27Fh). To avoid this situation, use Ports others 
  378.         than 260, using Configure System of Install Program.
  379.  
  380.     (5) For HP OMNIBOOK 600C's User
  381.              1. for DOS/Windows3.1(3.11)
  382.              (a)It is necessary to change CONFIG.SYS file. 
  383.                 Please refer to the section 4. and section 5.A.(6) 
  384.                 in this README. 
  385.              (b)When HP OMNIBOOK came back from the power save mode,
  386.                 HP OMNIBOOK cannot recognize the Sound/CD-ROM Interface Card
  387.                  in the PC card slot1 of the computer.
  388.               We recommend that you use without the power save mode or 
  389.               you use the PC card slot2 of the computer.
  390.  
  391.              2. for Windows95
  392.                 Normally you cannot use the PC Card slot after setting on 
  393.                 Windows 95. Please refer to the \DRIVERS\PCMCIA\README.TXT in 
  394.                 Windows 95 CD-ROM.
  395.  
  396.         (6) If your computer use the ASPISMGR.SYS, sometime your computer
  397.             cannot play the wave(.WAV) file in Windows, after you remove/insert
  398.         the Sound/CD-ROM interface card.
  399.         in this case, please change the IRQ No. with using the Setup Disk.
  400.         (for example, we confirmed the IBM ThinkPad 755C have the above 
  401.          problem with IRQ=5,10.)
  402.         
  403. 6. Installing Windows 95 using CD-ROM player
  404.  
  405.     (1) Installing Windows 95 using the KXL-D720 with KXL-D20
  406.          1. Install KXL-D20 DOS Driver after installing KXL-D720 DOS Driver
  407.             (include with KXL-D720).
  408.  
  409.          2. Reboot system.
  410.  
  411.          3. Insert Windows 95 CD-ROM in KXL-D720.
  412.  
  413.          4. Run Windows 3.1 and run SETUP.EXE from Windows 95 CD-ROM or
  414.             run SETUP.EXE in DOS if Windows 3.1 is not present.
  415.  
  416.          5. Windows 95 installation will complete; however, the KXL-D20 DOS
  417.             driver will currently be in use by Windows 95. This does not yield
  418.             optimum performance; hence, the KXL-D20 Windows 95 driver should
  419.             be installed. (See step 6)
  420.  
  421.     (2) Installing KXL-D20 Windows 95 Driver
  422.          6.The following message appears when SETUP is completed.
  423.         ***********************************************************************
  424.          System Properties / Performance
  425.           ASPISMGR in CONFIG.SYS forces MS-DOS compatibility mode.
  426.           Compatibility mode paging reduces overall system performance.
  427.           PC card (PCMCIA) devices are not using 32-bit support.
  428.         ***********************************************************************
  429.            Click [OK] to ignore this message. Meanwhile, PCMCIA controller 
  430.            chip(i82365) is unavailable on Windows 95.
  431.  
  432.          7.Double click on PC Card(PCMCIA) icon inside the Control Panel to
  433.            enable PCIC(PCMCIA controller chip) on Windows 95.
  434.  
  435.          8.When prompted by the PC Card Wizard, select [No] and select [Next>].
  436.            Then select [Next>] again.
  437.  
  438.          9.To restart your computer , in order to enable 32bit- support, click
  439.            [Finish]. Hereafter, please follow the Operating Instructions
  440.            Manual (P.18).
  441.
