Installation Instructions for The Orchid Technology
Vidiola, Vidiola PRO and Vidiola Premium video
Capture Card.
=================================
This readme will help users install the Vidiola PRO and
Vidiola Premium into MS Windows 95. If you have a Standard
Vidiola, these instructions do not apply to you.
There are two scenarios for the Vidiola installation:
I) The Vidiola is installed into Windows 3.1x, then the
operating system is upgraded to Windows 95.
II) The second case is when the Vidiola is being installed
into a machine where Windows 95 is already installed.
Case I
Upgrading System to Windows 95 with Vidiola PRO or Vidiola
Premium already installed.
===========================================================
1) Before upgrading Windows to Windows 95, record the
settings for the Vidiola card. This is done by
starting the Vidiola Configuration manager and
selecting Hardware. The recorded settings will be
needed later during the installation.
2) Start the Windows 95 installation process. During the
installation, you will be asked a series of questions,
one of the prompts will be for the type of
installation that you wish to do. The choices from
the "SETUP OPTIONS" screen are "Typical, Portable,
Compact, Custom", select "Custom" and click on the
"Next" button.
3) After a couple of more prompts you will be presented
with a "Analyzing Your Computer" prompt asking you if
"Do you want Setup to look for all hardware devices?",
the choices are:
"Yes (recommended"
"No, I want to modify the hardware list"
Select No and click on the "Next Button"
4) From the "Hardware types" list, highlight
"Sound, MIDI, or Video Capture Card"
5) From the "Manufacturer and Model" list, remove the
check mark from the "AuraVision VxP500 Compatible
Video Capture Adapter" and click on the "Next" button.
6) Continue through the Windows 95 installation process.
7) After Windows 95 is installed, reinstall the Vidiola
Pro or Premium drivers (following the instructions
from the manual). You might experience some slight
color distortion, this will be resolved after the
drivers are reinstalled.
8) Do not restart Windows
9) Load the \WINDOWS\AVWIN.INI file into an editor and
edit the Offscreen=1 line ([AVSnoop] paragraph) so it
reads:
Offscreen=0
10) Run the Vidiola Pro or Premium Configuration manager
and select "Hardware" to Change the resource settings
to match the settings that were saved in Step 1. The
Vidiola Configuration manager does not check resource
settings that are being used by other peripherals.
11) Restart Windows
Case II
Installing the Vidiola into a machine where Windows 95 is
already installed.
==========================================================
1) Install the Vidiola into the computer following the
instructions from the users manual
2) Boot machine into Windows 95
3) Install the Vidiola Pro or Premium drivers into
Windows 95, do not restart Windows 95. You might
experience slight color distortion, this will be
resolved after the drivers are loaded.
4) Load the \WINDOWS\AVWIN.INI file into an editor and
edit the Offscreen=1 line ([AVSnoop] paragraph) so it
reads:
Offscreen=0
5) Run the Vidiola Pro or Premium Configuration manager
and select "Hardware" to change the resource settings
for the Vidiola. The Vidiola Configuration manager
does not check resource settings that are being used
by other peripherals. These settings will need to be
set manually in the software as well as changes made
to the Vidiola jumper settings.
6) Restart Windows
