  3.        Installation Instructions for The Orchid Technology
  4.      Vidiola, Vidiola PRO and Vidiola Premium video
  5.               Capture Card.

  9. This readme will help users install the Vidiola PRO and 
  10. Vidiola Premium into MS Windows 95.  If you have a Standard
  11. Vidiola, these instructions do not apply to you.  
  12.  
  13. There are two scenarios for the Vidiola installation:
  14.  
  15. I)      The Vidiola is installed into Windows 3.1x, then the 
  16.     operating system is upgraded to Windows 95.  
  17.  
  18. II)     The second case is when the Vidiola is being installed 
  19.     into a machine where Windows 95 is already installed.

  23. Upgrading System to Windows 95 with Vidiola PRO or Vidiola 
  24. Premium already installed.
  25. ===========================================================

  27. 1)      Before upgrading Windows to Windows 95, record the 
  28.     settings for the Vidiola card.  This is done by 
  29.     starting the Vidiola Configuration manager and 
  30.     selecting Hardware.  The recorded settings will be 
  31.     needed later during the installation.
  32.  
  33. 2)      Start the Windows 95 installation process.  During the 
  34.     installation, you will be asked a series of questions, 
  35.     one of the prompts will be for the type of 
  36.     installation that you wish to do.  The choices from 
  37.     the "SETUP OPTIONS" screen are "Typical, Portable, 
  38.     Compact, Custom", select "Custom" and click on the 
  39.     "Next" button.

  41. 3)      After a couple of more prompts you will be presented 
  42.     with a "Analyzing Your Computer" prompt asking you if 
  43.     "Do you want Setup to look for all hardware devices?", 
  44.     the choices are: 
  45.  
  46.     "Yes (recommended"
  47.     "No, I want to modify the hardware list"
  48.  
  49.     Select No and click on the "Next Button"
  50.  
  51. 4)      From the "Hardware types" list, highlight 
  52.     "Sound, MIDI, or Video Capture Card"
  53.  
  54. 5)      From the "Manufacturer and Model" list, remove the 
  55.     check mark from the "AuraVision VxP500 Compatible 
  56.     Video Capture Adapter" and click on the "Next" button.

  58. 6)      Continue through the Windows 95 installation process.
  59.  
  60. 7)      After Windows 95 is installed, reinstall the Vidiola 
  61.     Pro or Premium drivers (following the instructions 
  62.     from the manual).  You might experience some slight 
  63.     color distortion, this will be resolved after the 
  64.     drivers are reinstalled.

  66. 8)      Do not restart Windows
  67.  
  68. 9)      Load the \WINDOWS\AVWIN.INI file into an editor and 
  69.     edit the Offscreen=1 line ([AVSnoop] paragraph) so it 
  70.     reads:

  72.     Offscreen=0
  73.  
  74. 10)     Run the Vidiola Pro or Premium Configuration manager 
  75.     and select "Hardware" to Change the resource settings 
  76.     to match the settings that were saved in Step 1.  The 
  77.     Vidiola Configuration manager does not check resource 
  78.     settings that are being used by other peripherals.

  80. 11)     Restart Windows

  84. Installing the Vidiola into a machine where Windows 95 is 
  85. already installed.

  88. 1)      Install the Vidiola into the computer following the 
  89.     instructions from the users manual
  90.  
  91. 2)      Boot machine into Windows 95
  92.  
  93. 3)      Install the Vidiola Pro or Premium drivers into 
  94.     Windows 95, do not restart Windows 95.  You might 
  95.     experience slight color distortion, this will be 
  96.     resolved after the drivers are loaded.

  98. 4)      Load the \WINDOWS\AVWIN.INI file into an editor and 
  99.     edit the Offscreen=1 line ([AVSnoop] paragraph) so it 
  100.     reads:

  102.     Offscreen=0
  103.  
  104. 5)      Run the Vidiola Pro or Premium Configuration manager 
  105.     and select "Hardware" to change the resource settings 
  106.     for the Vidiola.  The Vidiola Configuration manager 
  107.     does not check resource settings that are being used 
  108.     by other peripherals.  These settings will need to be 
  109.     set manually in the software as well as changes made 
  110.     to the Vidiola jumper settings.
