Fahrenheit Pro Video 64
Supplemental Windows 95 Driver Release
---------------------------------------
The file you have downloaded, FPVIDW95.EXE contains Windows 95
drivers for the Fahrenheit ProVideo 64 board. This is a
supplemental driver release, not a complete driver disk set.
This does not replace your existing Fahrenheit ProVideo 64 driver
disk set version 1.0, but is a supplement to it. This readme
file contains instructions for installing the drivers. You have
already completed the first step, by unpacking the FPVIDW95.EXE
file and reading this.
When you unpack FPVIDW95.EXE you should have the following files:
FPV64 DRV 71,680 01-03-96 2:06p
FPV64 VXD 12,750 01-03-96 2:38p
FPV64 INF 1,452 01-05-96 10:56a
README 1ST 4,150 01-23-96
Installing the Drivers
-----------------------------
These instructions assume that you already have the Fahrenheit
ProVideo 64 board installed in your system, and that you already
have the Windows 95 operating system installed on your hard disk.
You should use the Windows 95 "Add New Hardware" procedure to
install these new drivers. The Windows95 "Add New Hardware"
procedure is menu driven, and fairly self explanatory. Here are
the step-by-step instructions for the procedure.
1. Before beginning new driver installation, we recommend that
you shut down any other programs you may be running.
2. From the Windows 95 desktop, select the icon, "My Computer",
then double click on the "Control Panel" icon.
3. From the Control Panel Window, double click on the "Add New
Hardware" icon. When the introductory "Add New Hardware
Wizard" screen comes up, click on the "Next" button.
4. The Wizard will ask you, "Do you want Windows to search for
your new hardware?" Select "NO", and click on the "Next"
button.
5. A menu tree is displayed titled, "Hardware types". Double
click on the "Display adapters" selection.
6. Lists of display "Manufacturers", and "Models" will show on
screen. Instead of selecting from the existing lists, click
on the "Have Disk" button (below the "Models" column).
7. The Wizard will ask you for a drive letter and path
specification for the new drivers. Fill in the appropriate
information for your system (the drive and directory name
where you unpacked the new drivers).
8. When the "Models" list comes up, select "Orchid Technology
Fahrenheit ProVideo 64", then press the "Next" button.
9. You may see some messages flash quickly on the screen as the
new files are copied, then click on the "Finish" button. At
this point, you can shutdown and restart so the changes will
take affect.
The procedure for setting the driver resolution, board refresh
rates, monitor type and color depth hasn't changed, you should
use the standard Windows 95 methods. From Control Panel, double
click on the "Display" icon, then select the "Settings" tab.
