  3. configuration settings.

  6. 1. INTRODUCTION
  7. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  8.  
  9.   During the installation of Mustek TWAIN Data Source, the scanner settings
  10.   (i.e., IRQ, DMA and I/O address settings) will be automatically updated
  11.   in the WIN.INI file. However, there are instances when you may need to
  12.   change the IRQ, DMA or I/O address setting to avoid a hardware conflict.

  15. 2. HOW TO CHANGE THE SCANNER SETTING

  18.   To change the scanner settings, please execute the SCANTEST module which
  19.   can be found in the Mustek TWAIN group icon and follow the onscreen
  20.   instructions.

  22.   Note: To change the I/O address setting for some scanner interface card,
  23.         you should change it by changing the I/O address switch setting on
  24.         the scanner interface card and the Scantest module will detect the
  25.         new setting automatically. Please refer to the included manual for
  26.         how to change the I/O address.

  29. 3. CALIBRATE THE SCANNER
  30. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  32.   For best scanning results, we recommend that you calibrate the scanner
  33.   the very first time you use it. The calibration procedure involves
  34.   scanning a white sheet of paper and adjusting the brightness control
  35.   until you get a Calibration OK message. After this you don't need to
  36.   calibrate again unless you notice a significant decrease in scan quality.

  38.   To calibrate the scanner, the steps are:

  40.      1.Set the Brightness Control of your scanner to the middle position.
  41.  
  42.      2.In the Hand Scanner dialog box, click the Preference button.
  43.        The Preference dialog box appears.

  45.      3.Click the Calibration button and follow all onscreen instructions.
