  16. Installing CD-Runner 4.0 Lite
  17.  
  18.   1. Review the System Requirements(sysreq.txt) to ensure that your system
  19.      is compatible with this product.
  20.   2. Copy the CD-Runner download file into an empty installation directory
  21.      (such as C:\TEMP) and unzip. NOTE: Make sure that your temporary 
  22.      installation directory name does NOT include wildcards or special 
  23.      characters!
  24.   3. From the Windows Explorer or File Manager run INSTALL.EXE. 
  25.  
  26. HINT: If you load a CD-ROM (NOT Audio disc) in your drive(s) before
  27.       installing CD-Runner, the Setup will automatically choose your drive 
  28.       letter(s)!

  32. Once you've entered the CD-Runner program, screen-sensitive Help is
  33. available at all times by pressing F1. Both a mouse-sensitive graphic
  34. screen with brief text pop-ups, as well as detailed information will be
  35. displayed.

  38. Cool Tips!!!
  39.  
  40. #1 Mouse! CD-Runner makes maximum possible use of your mouse. Displays are
  41. LOADED with 'hot spots', which when either right- or left-clicked do
  42. all kinds of fun things(which are also available via menus). Feel free to
  43. play. To guide you, note that your mouse pointer will change shape whenever
  44. you guide it over a hot spot.
  45.  
  46. #2 Audio CDs - Quick Editing: For quick and easy entering of audio CD
  47. library info, without having to place the CD in the drive for editing:
  48.  
  49.    * Place the CD in the drive with CD-Runner loaded.
  50.    * Using the Library button, enter the album name into the library.
  51.    * You can now go back to the library at any time and enter additional
  52.      album info, without having to enter the CD in the drive.
  53.  
  54. #3 CD-ROMs - Clear you Windows Desktop: For any CD-ROM applications
  55. registered in the CD-Runner Library, any Windows Program Groups or icons
  56. associated with the programs may be deleted as CD-Runner will automatically
  57. identify and launch your CD. Why clutter up your desktop?
  58.  
  59. Note: When entering a new CD-ROM that you may already have installed to
  60. your hard drive, it isn't necessary to run the "Install CD-ROM" utility.
  61. Instead, use the "CD-ROM Library" to locate the program on your hard drive
  62. and enter it into the database.

  64. #4 Palette Size? Those of us who run CD-ROM games and Enhanced Video CDs
  65. have long chaffed at having to reset our screen displays to 256-color
  66. 640x480. CD-Runner has a built-in option for playing Enhanced CDs as
  67. stand-alone multimedia files without having to change screen modes. For
  68. gaming, Microsoft has developed a nifty utility called SetRes which loads
  69. to your System Tray and makes this changeover at a single touch. This one
  70. is worth having, and can be downloaded from the Microsoft libraries on
  71. CompuServe and Internet.

  74. Product Feature differences between CD-Runner 4.0 Lite and 6.0 DeLuxe
  75.  
  76. Although CD-Runner 4.0 Lite and 6.0 share many comparable features, there
  77. are several major differences.  Most notably, the Multimedia Runner and 
  78. extended internet capabilities featured in 6.0 DeLuxe are lacking in 4.0.
  79. 6.0 offers full internet linkage, as well as a built-in CD-Shopper and 
  80. on-board Product Support.  In addition, the 32-bit graphics capabilites 
  81. compliance give 6.0 power unavailable in 16-bit applications.

  87. Whatever your mood for the day, you can FULLY customize any part of the

  90. Faceplate options and choose from our default sets of 3-D Theme Packs for
  91. dynamite faceplate displays to choose from.  Can't decide?  You can mix and

  101. In the CD-Runner 6.0 Setup - Advanced Section, you'll find the utility for
  102. selecting your favorite web browser, be it MS Internet Browser, Netscape, 
  103. or even WinCIM.  Once this is configured, you'll note a new www launch 
  104. button on the upper right-hand screen of every CD-Runner 6.0 faceplate.

  106. Once you've got a browser assigned just load you favorite CD, and go for a
  107. spin on the net.  Via the handy drop-down menu available from within any of
  108. the faceplates you can automatically launch your browser its default URL.  
  109. CD-Runner will minimize to its Remote Control if you have this option 
  110. chosen, and you're off to surf with your favorite tunes running in the
  111. background.

  193. Upgrading to CD-Runner 6.0 Deluxe (Registered Version) from 4.0 Lite:

  195. IMPORTANT:  If you install CD-Runner 6.0 DeLuxe on a computer running 4.0
  196. Lite (either in the same directory or elsewhere) CD-Runner will revert to
  197. 15-day Trialware.
  198.  
  199. Before trying the 6.0 Trialware, it is highly recommended that you backup 
  200. your 4.0 \CDRUNNER folder(directory).  This is important in the event that 
  201. you may have CD Audio or CD-ROM data stored, and may wish to revert to 4.0
  202. later on.

  204. To Install 6.0:
  205.  
  206. Download 6.0 from http://www.cdrunner.com, unzip to an empty folder, and 
  207. run "setup.exe".
  208.  
  209. To undo a 6.0 DeLuxe installation and revert to 4.0 Lite:
  210.  
  211. 1) Run the 6.0 Uninstall.  Failure to do this before reinstalling 4.0 
  212. will cause CD-Runner failure.
  213. 2) Restore your previously archived copy of CD-Runner, including all 
  214. subdirectories.
  215. 3) Reinstall 4.0 Lite.

  218. Pricing and Registration

  220. CD-Runner 4.0 Lite is Freeware.  This means that all product features are 
  221. fully-enabled, and unlike shareware, this product will NOT expire at any 
  222. time.

  224. You may freely use this version on as many PCs as you wish, and likewise 
  225. distribute it free of charge provided that it is distributed 'as is' with 
  226. no files changed or edited in any way. Likewise, you are NOT permitted to 
  227. charge any fee whatsoever for redistribution.  Failure to comply with these
  228. and other conditions specified in "license.txt" will result in prosecution 
  229. and severe criminal penalties.

  232. featured 32-bit CD-Runner 6.0 DeLuxe (features noted in above section), a
