If you are using POP3 or IMAP4 as your Message Source, please read the
following.
This version of WinBiff allows you to set timeout values for WinSock,
though these settings *cannot* be made from the Setup dialog. Instead,
you must edit the .INI file you create using a text editor. A future
version of WinBiff will allow you to make these settings more
conveniently.
The timeout settings are:
InactivityTimeout Timeout for inactivity on a socket, once connected
Default 30 seconds
ConnectTimeout Timeout to connect to a host, once WinSock is initialized
Default 60 seconds
WinSockInitTimeout Timeout to initialize WinSock
Default 120 seconds
You can create entries for each of these settings by going into the
Setup dialog, and pressing the Save button. You can then change the
settings by editing the .INI file in an editor. Note that the new
settings will not take effect until you exit and restart WinBiff. For
most users, the default settings should not result in timeouts under
normal network conditions. If you have an unusual network arrangement,
and find that you regularly get timeouts, edit the timeout settings as
needed.
