&&&Sounddex
Sounddex is a fully-functional, shareware file organization program
which offers a central index to every Windows-compatible
sound data (.wav) file on a computer system.
Sounddex keeps track of every file's location in the system with
a record of the 'path' or drive, directory and file information
of every file added to Sounddex. A label and comments about
each file may also be included.
Sounddex uses a Microsoft Access-compatible database to record
information about each file. The database is contained in the
wavdata.mdb and wavdata.ldb files in the 'multidex' directory.
Sounddex is shareware and may be freely distributed, provided all
the original files are included.

&&&Sounddex Search and Index Features
Sounddex locates and retrieves files by three primary methods:
Search, Index and Directory. Files can be searched or indexed by
Label or Path. Files can also be accessed directly through the
drive, directory and file windows in the lower right-hand section
of the main window.
Searching for a file will cause Sounddex to request a label or
path for the file. After entering the label or path in the
appropriate window, pressing the <enter> key will cause
Sounddex to search for the file. If the file is located,
it will be displayed.
The File Index is located just under the comments window. Selecting
Index from the File Menu will cause all files currenty in
the Sounddex database to appear in the Index window listed by either path or label. Clicking on any
file path or label listed in the Index window will cause
Sounddex to retrieve the information and display the file.
Files may also be accessed directly through the drive, directory
and file windows beneath the Index window. Windows sound data or
(.wav) files are displayed in the file window. Selecting a file
in the file window will display it. If no entry is found in
Sounddex for the file, entering a label and comment and selecting
Add File from the File Menu will add the file to Sounddex.

&&&The Sounddex Database
Sounddex uses an Access-compatible database to maintain
information about files. The wavdata.mdb and wavdata.ldb files
in the Multidex directory contain the database information.
A label, path, update time and date, and comment may be listed
for each file. Labels should be unique to the file, since labels
are one of the possible search methods for files. The path and
update time and date will be added automatically by Sounddex.
To add a file to the database, select the file using the drive,
directory and file windows. Once selected, Sounddex will display
the image. After entering a label and comment, select Add File
from the File Menu, and the file will be added to Sounddex. It
is not necessary to move files in order to add them to the
Sounddex database.
To copy a file, with the file displayed, select 'Copy File To'
from the File Menu. Type a name for the file, and select a
directory to which to copy the file, and select OK. The file
will be copied to the directory chosen under the file name listed.
