  6. Thank you for your interest in Sounddex.
  7. This text file contains information on how to install
  8. Sounddex, troubleshooting, registration and license  
  9. information.
  10.  
  11. Sounddex is a fully-functional, shareware file organization program 
  12. which offers a central index to every Windows-compatible sound data 
  13. (.wav) file on a computer system.
  14.  
  15. Sounddex keeps track of every file's location in the system with 
  16. a record of the 'path' or drive, directory and file information 
  17. of every file added to Sounddex.  A label and comments about 
  18. each file may also be included. 
  19.  
  20. Sounddex uses a Microsoft Access-compatible database to record 
  21. information about each file.  The database is contained in the 
  22. wavdata.mdb and wavdata.ldb files in the 'multidex' directory.

  24. Sounddex is shareware and may be freely distributed, provided all 
  25. the original files are included, including this file.

  49. System Requirements:
  50. 386/33 or better processor
  51. VGA display
  52. Mouse
  53. Windows 3.1 or better
  54. 4MB RAM (8MB recommended)
  55. 2MB disk space
  56. Soundblaster or compatible sound card
  57. VBRUN300.DLL must be present in your Windows/System directory
  58.  
  59. 1. Copy all the files into a temporary directory on your C: drive.
  60.  
  61. 2. Run the setup.exe file from Windows to install Sounddex.  
  62.  
  63. 3. VBRUN300.DLL must be present in your C:\Windows\System 
  64. directory.

  67. II. Troubleshooting
  68. --------------------

  70. Sounddex will not run without VBRUN300.DLL present 
  71. in the Windows/System directory.
  72.  
  73. Sounddex works best with a Soundblaster or compatible
  74. sound card.

  83. Registration of Sounddex is $19.00 (U.S.) plus shipping and 
  84. handling.  The registration fee includes one copy of Multidex, 
  85. technical support and special offers on other Heavy Cat Multimedia 
  86. products.  Multiple-computer and network licenses are also available.

  88. An order form (order.txt) is included in the 'Multidex' directory.
  89. If a printer is unavailable, a letter can be included in 
  90. place of the order form.

  102. Sounddex is a demonstration version of Multidex, which is 
  103. an organizational program for all types of files, including 
  104. graphics (.bmp), text (.txt), sound (.wav), music (.mid), 
  105. and video (.avi).

  107. Each file in Multidex can include a label and comments, and Multidex 
  108. can also preview or display graphics and text files, play sound and 
  109. music files, and preview and play sound files.
  110.  
  111. Multidex's Access-compatible databases, which are fully 
  112. compatible with Sounddex, provide search and index 
  113. functions which allow files to be located by label or path, 
  114. and a copy feature to assist in moving files from one 
  115. location to another.
