- and supply you with your security code.
-
-
- .... and now on with the show !
-
-
- Convt32.EXE was placed on your system in the data folder where
- you installed InfoTree32. Locate this file with Windows Explorer
- and double click it.
-
- Here's how to convert your data from previous 16bit versions
- of InfoTree...
-
- Old 16bit side ...
-
- Convt32 will provide you with a screen wherein you can ...
-
- 1. Browse for your existing InfoTree (16bit version)
- database,
- Notice that the program is looking for a file name
- "Info.isd" and all you have to do is place yourself
- in the correct data folder.
-
- 2. Once the database has been selected, Convt32 will
- show you the tree view of that database for your
- visual acceptance.
-
- 3. Now you need to specify the name and location of a
- new file that Convt32 will produce. This file will
- be a special flat file with an extention of "ITD"
- and it will be used by the new InfoTree32 to import
- the information from your old database.
- This file (.itd) will have all the information needed
- to rebuild the database within InfoTree32 ...
- (i.e., Each note with its title, the text for each note,
- the keys for each note, and the associated documents
- pointers for each note)... please note that a seperate
- flat file named the same as the (.itd) file will be produced
- that has an extention of "TXT". This file is a text file
- that contains the full catalog of Keys used in the old database.
- For example: if you export your old database into a file
- named "OldITDb" Convt32 will produce two files;
- one named "OldITDb.ITD" and one named "OldITDb.txt"
-
- 4. When the export has completed, move on to the New 32bit side ...
-
-
- New 32bit side ...
-
- 1. Using InfoTree32 ... start a new database (to receive the
- data from the old 16bit InfoTree database)
- When you have built this new database, it will only
- contain one Note Tablet (i.e., the root of the tree).
-
- 2. With the root of the tree selected, do the following ...
- a. Change the Sorted status of the root to "UnSorted"
- This will ensure that your old data's tree view will
- be reproduced as it was before.
- b. Place yourself (cursor) in the text editor part of
- InfoTree32 and specify the default font properties you
- want used when the importing of the old data takes place.
-
- 3. Now return to the tree view and select the root of the
- tree again.
- Under the Tree Menu please select the Import/Export item
- and then select the Import From File item.
- This will instruct InfoTree32 to help you import the data
- from the flat file you built earlier.
-
- 4. At the completion, you should have your old database
- placed under the root of the tree in the new database.
-
- 5. Now you need to recover your catalog of Keys from the
- old database. Under the File Menu, select the Key Words
- and Phrases item. You will have a screen with an empty
- list of Keys ... use the Import Keys button to begin the
- process of bringing in your catalog of keys from the old
- database.
-
-
- Setting your expectations ... The new database built by InfoTree32
- should now be complete. Your should have the same tree view of the
- database as before and it should appear just inside of the root of
- the tree. You will have the contents of each note, the keys for each
- note and the associated document pointers for each note. You should
- also have the complete catalog of Keys from the old database.
-
- Casualty of the conversion ... The programming tools used in the new
- 32bit version of InfoTree are much better than those used by the 16bit
- version; however, there was not a way to retain the text formatting
- within the notes. Thus, your notes within the new data base will be
- formatted according to the properties of the font you described as the
- default font just before you imported your old data.
