Introduction 1
Computer Injuries are a Serious Problem
---------------------------------------------------
Computer injuries are causing serious problems in today's computerized work place. The
financial cost is staggering especially for small businesses. When an injury requires
surgery and extensive rehabilitation, the treatment cost can reach $100,000.
Employees using computers for long time periods can become victims of the Carpal Tunnel
Syndrome (CTS). Repeated and rapid stressful motions from keyboard typing for a long
time period may cause CTS. Chairs and desks may cause stress to employee bodies from
sitting in an unnatural position.
Statistics show that computer injuries are rapidly increasing. The Occupational Safety
and Health Administration (OSHA) reports that computer injuries as a percentage of total
work related illnesses increased from 18% to 56% in the last ten years. The dramatic
rise coincides with the increased use of personal computers.
Computer Injury Prevention
-----------------------------------
Employees using a computer for long time periods should take frequent breaks. Stretching
exercises will help reduce muscle tension. Practicing good posture is a key factor to
reducing stress on the body.
RELAXIZE is a software utility designed to help the computer user turn away from their
workstation for a brief time to rest and relax. RELAXIZE gives the computer user a
chance to set convenient break periods. The work timer is used to set the length of
time you can work at the computer before a break period occurs. Use the break timer to
customize the length of your break periods. The posture timer displays an exercise
window with suggestions for preparing yourself for long work periods at the computer.

We have tried to design RELAXIZE for easy use. Still, we will be happy to help if you
encounter a problem. Contact us by one of the following methods:
Telephone 1-800-260-2739, 608-273-2739
Telephone contact is probably the best way to solve a problem. It is easier to provide
help when we can speak with you directly.
Please try to be in front of your computer with the program operating. Diagnosing a
software problem is difficult if you are not at the computer.

Installation and Startup 3
Setup RELAXIZE
---------------------
Install RELAXIZE for Windows before using. The Setup program creates a group window
with the RELAXIZE icon. The Setup program updates the WIN.INI file so that RELAXIZE
will begin running automatically when Windows starts running.
1. Start File Manager.
2. Locate the file RLXSETUP.EXE in the RELAXIZE directory.
3. Double-click on RLXSETUP.EXE. Setup displays the RELAXIZE Setup screen.
The Setup screen displays a dialog box for you to specify where you copied the
RELAXIZE program files.
4. Type the drive and directory location of the RELAXIZE program files if
different then the program's default drive and directory location.
5. Select the Continue button to continue setup.
Select the Exit Setup button to stop the setup procedure.
6. A new dialog box will appear when RELAXIZE is successfully setup. Select OK.
The RELAXIZE icon will now appear in the RELAXIZE group window.
7. Exit File Manager.
8. You must exit from Windows to save the RELAXIZE startup settings installed by
Setup.
9. Open Windows Program Manager if not already open.
10. Choose Exit from the File menu.
11. Select OK.
12. At the C>, type WIN and press ENTER.
The RELAXIZE startup screen is displayed for 5 seconds before the RELAXIZE menu bar
appears at the top of the screen. The RELAXIZE posture exercise window is displayed
below the menu bar. The posture exercise window is displayed for one minute, which
is the default timer setting. After one minute, the posture exercise window will
disappear so you can begin work. You can use the Cancel button to remove the window
before time expires. See Program Options to change timer settings.
Uninstall RELAXIZE 4
Use the following procedure to uninstall RELAXIZE on your computer.
1. Delete the following files:
Size Location
RLXSETUP.EXE 25,545 C:\RELAX
THREED.VBX 64,544 C:\RELAX
VBRUN300.DLL 394,384 C:\RELAX
SPIN.VBX 22,528 C:\RELAX
RELAX100.EXE 727,138 C:\RELAX
RELAX100.HLP 28,028 C:\RELAX
RELAX.INI 637 C:\RELAX
README.TXT 4,463 C:\RELAX
RELAX100.DOC 22.545 C:\RELAX
2. Delete the RELAXIZE group window.
3. Use a text editor, such as the Windows Notepad program, to change the Load
statement in the WIN.INI file.
Example: load =c:\cps\wntsrman.exe,c:\relax\relax100.exe
Delete the characters with the strike through in the example.
Screen Savers
------------------
You can use RELAXIZE with Windows' screen savers. However, Windows' screen savers
may cause a minor conflict with RELAXIZE. For example, your screen saver may pop-up
on the screen while an exercise window is displayed. (Screen savers are normally set
to pop-up after a preset time if the keyboard or mouse is not used.) Press a key on
the keyboard or move the mouse to have the exercise window reappear.
Program Options 5
Set Timers
--------------
When you install RELAXIZE, default timer values are installed for the posture window
(1 minute), work period timer (60 minutes) and break period timer (5 minutes). The
posture timer tells RELAXIZE how long to display the posture exercise window. The
work timer determines how long RELAXIZE runs in the background while you work. The
relax timer determines the length of your break time.
We recommend you use the default timer values to help prevent injuries. You can change
the timer values while RELAXIZE is running in the background (minimized) or displaying
exercise windows.
1. Choose Set Timers from the Options menu. The Set Timers window will appear.
2. Point and click or press TAB to move cursor to timer field you want to reset.
3. Edit the field or use the spin buttons to the right of each timer field to change
the timer values. Point to the UP arrow and click to increase the timer value.
Point to the DOWN arrow and click to decrease the timer value.
4. Select the Save button to save the new timer settings and return to the RELAXIZE
menu.
Select the Cancel button to cancel changes and return to the RELAXIZE menu.
Select Exercise Windows
-------------------------------
RELAXIZE includes ten exercise windows. The exercise windows appear during break
periods. When you install RELAXIZE, the program defaults to displaying each exercise
window consecutively during break time.
We recommend you display each exercise window during break time to help prevent injuries.
You cannot change the order RELAXIZE displays exercise windows. However, you can prevent
RELAXIZE from displaying all exercise windows.
1. Choose Exercise Windows from the Option menu. The exercise window list will appear.
Program Options 6
A check mark to the left of the exercise window name shows that the window will
be displayed during break time. No check mark shows the window will not be displayed.
2. Point and click to remove or place a check mark next to an exercise window name.
Keyboard users can use the arrow keys to highlight an exercise window name and
press ENTER to remove or place a check mark next to the exercise window name.
Note: RELAXIZE uses the break period timer settings and the number of exercise
windows marked for display to calculate the length of time each exercise window
is displayed.
At least one exercise window must be displayed during break time. The following
dialog box will appear if you attempt to remove all check marks from the exercise
window menu:
Select OK. The exercise window check marks will reset to the default settings.
Continue Button
---------------------
You can shorten the time an exercise window is displayed by selecting the Continue button.
Using the Continue button will display the next exercise window or cause the RELAXIZE menu
to disappear when the last exercise window is displayed.
Cancel Button
------------------
You can cancel your break and return to work before all the exercise windows are displayed.
Selecting the Cancel button will cause the current exercise window to disappear and reduce
RELAXIZE to an icon.
Online Help 7
RELAXIZE for Windows has online help you can display in a Help window. Help contains
information not available in this manual. For example, Help is the source of information
for setting work and break timer settings.
