  38.     WHY USE WEBMASTER(TM) ?

  40.     WebMaster(TM) takes the pain out of organizing Web Pages!

  42.     WebMaster(TM) imports World Wide Web links and e-mail
  43.     addresses AUTOMATICALLY--NO TYPING REQUIRED.  I've found
  44.     Web pages that contain upwards of 200 Web Site links...
  45.     Some e-mail directories at institutions located on the Web
  46.     list hundreds--sometimes even THOUSANDS--of addresses.
  47.     Imagine bookmarking these manually using your browser...
  48.     or worse, typing them by hand!  WebMaster imports & alpha-
  49.     betically organizes the entire list in a matter of seconds!

  53.     HOW TO SCAN for Links & Addresses

  55.     1) Save any Web Page or other file to disk.
  56.        (a sample Web Page "DOD.HTM" is included)

  58.     2) Click 'Import Web Page' or 'Import E-mail.'
  59.     
  60.     3) Select a file in ANY location that you've saved
  61.        from ANY application... or even an application
  62.        itself!  WebMaster(TM) gathers all Web links from
  63.        the file you select.  Try importing "DOD.HTM" now,
  64.        using the 'Import Web Page' option.
  65.     
  66.     After the 'ahhh's subside, open "DOD.HTM" with Notepad,
  67.     or other plain text editor, and you get an idea of the
  68.     time, effort, and typing that WebMaster can save you.
  69.

  71.     HOW TO FIND Names/Titles in your lists
  72.     --------------------------------------
  73.     Need to find a Website or name you have on file?
  74.     
  75.     To view one list or the other, Select "Web Sites" or
  76.     "E-mail Addresses" in the WINDOW menu.
  77.     
  78.     To search for a specific title or name:
  79.     1) Type the first letters of the name you want to find.
  80.     2) Click the <Find> button.
  81.     
  82.     Or, you may also click on the list--use PGUP, PGDN, or arrow
  83.     keys to navigate.  To copy addresses from WebMaster for use
  84.     in another application (or vice-versa), you can use standard
  85.     tools or keyboard shortcuts, found in the EDIT menu.
  86.     
  87.     ESC and TAB keys will help you move around entry blanks.  
  88.  
  89.     The rest is pretty elementary; just play around with the menu
  90.     options, and you'll figure it out--or better, send in the reg-
  91.     istration fee, and I'll send you printed instructions!  A few
  92.     features are disabled on the shareware version.

  95.     SPECIAL FEATURES for NetCruiser(TM) & America Online(TM)
  96.     --------------------------------------------------------
  97.     You can easily import Web Sites or E-mail addresses you've
  98.     saved while in your account.  From the Records menu, select
  99.     RECORDS >> IMPORT WEB SITES >> IMPORT FROM NETCRUISER (or)
  100.     AMERICA ONLINE.  Repeat periodically to update; WebMaster
  101.     will skip any duplicates already added.

  104.     NOW, *WHO'S* THE WEBMASTER?
  105.     ---------------------------
  106.     In no time, YOUR WebMaster directory will contain thousands
  107.     of valuable information sources and addresses from all over
  108.     the Web!  Trade them with friends.  Drop them at parties.
  109.     You'll be the Infomeister Supreme.
  110.  
  111.     But don't be stingy... you'll have plenty to go around!
  112.  
  113.     Who knows--YOU may even start a valuable business,
  114.     using this tool.  A few ideas:
  115.     
  116.     - Collect & sell mailing lists!
  117.     - Develop a directory of Web Sites!
  118.     - Market your research skills to others!
  119.     - Sell valuable information to customers... friends... relatives?
  120.     - Easily manage monstrous, cyberspace volumes of information!
  121.     - Quickly find & capitalize on the Information YOU need!

  124.     SCANNING VERY LARGE FILES
  125.     -------------------------
  126.     Some files (i.e. large/institutional directory files may require
  127.     more memory than WebMaster initially reserves (I wanted to leave
  128.     SOME memory for your other applications!).  To modify, you may
  129.     either 1) Edit WebMaster's PIF settings (see your Windows manual
  130.     for instruction), or 2) Split the file into smaller pieces.  A
  131.     freeware file-splitting utility (SPLITF.EXE) is included in the
  132.     WM directory.

  134.     To split:
  135.     1) Copy SPLITF.EXE to the directory containing the file (copy--
  136.        don't *remove* SPLITF).
  137.     2) At the directory prompt, type: SPLITF filename 100000 <enter>
  138.        (replace "filename" with actual filename to split).  SPLITF
  139.        will not alter your original file; additional 'split' files
  140.        are added with tags filename.000, .001, and so on.
  141.     3) Re-start WebMaster, select each split file, and scan    it.
  142.     
  143.     You may use a number other than 100000; however, be warned that
  144.     very large files may take a while to scan (especially if they're
  145.     solid address lists).  WebMaster updates the percent of file it's
  146.     scanned and in the lower-left corner, the # of records added in
  147.     real time.
  148.  
  149.     YOU *MAY* WORK IN OTHER APPLICATIONS WHILE WEBMASTER SCANS!
  150.     Click on the minimize arrow (located in upper-right corner
  151.     of the main window).  Double-click the WM icon to restore.

  154.     DO *NOT* DISTRIBUTE THE REGISTERED VERSION

  156.     Distribution of any REGISTERED version is ILLEGAL.
  157.     Plus, it hurts my feelings.  Please don't do it!
  158.     This impairs efforts toward inexpensive, effective
  159.     solutions that I would like to provide you.

  162.     *DO* DISTRIBUTE THE SHAREWARE VERSION =FREELY=

  164.     You can easily create an authorized, uploadable
  165.     version of WebMaster(TM) or one to share with
  166.     your friends--and if you let me know when, where,
  167.     and provide authorization that you uploaded
  168.     to an archive or on-line service before anyone
  169.     else, you'll win a FREE upgrade to the next version!

  171.     For both of the following programs, first place a copy
  172.     of PKUNZIP.EXE (v2.04g preferred) in your WebMaster
  173.     directory (PKUNZIP isn't included in the WMASTER2.ZIP
  174.     file), and have two formatted floppy disks ready.

  176.     To make quick shareware copies:
  177.     
  178.     + Have two formatted, high-density floppy disks ready.
  179.     + From within your WebMaster directory, type DUPE <enter>.
  180.     + WebMaster will make an install-ready, 2-disk shareware set!
  181.     
  182.     To make an -uploadable- .ZIP file:
  183.     
  184.     + You must have PKUNZIP.EXE (v2.04g pref'd) on your drive.
  185.     + From within your WebMaster directory, type UPLOAD <enter>.
  186.     + WebMaster makes a .ZIP file in a new directory \WMUPLOAD,
  187.       ready for you to upload to your online service or network!
  188.     
  189.     Please ONLY use the WebMaster duplication programs
  190.     to make copies--WebMaster(TM) WILL NOT WORK if you
  191.     try to compress and distribute it manually.
  192.     
  193.     This is one piece of software that GROWS in value
  194.     as you trade e-mail addresses & Web Sites with your
  195.     friends & associates!  Please tell everyone you know
