SHORTHAND FOR WINDOWS
Version 5.x
Shorthand Version 5.x is a 16-bit Windows application with
a 16 to 32 bit translation interface that enables Shorthand
to work with both 16-bit and 32-bit Windows applications.
Shorthand now supports automatic replacement of keywords
while you type without the need for the leading hot key.
You can still use the hot key if you wish.
If you are a current user of Shorthand, please see the
SHORTHND.WRI file for a description of new features.
See the PRICELST.TXT file for a list of registration fees.
INTRODUCTION
------------
Shorthand is a typing productivity tool designed to work concurrently
with most Microsoft Windows (both 16 and 32 bit) applications.
Just as a stenographer uses shorthand notation to represent words and
phrases, Shorthand allows you to represent a string of text with a
much shorter abbreviation or keyword. Instead of typing the text string,
you type the shorter keyword and Shorthand takes care of typing
the text string into your application. For example, you can
represent the phrase "as soon as possible" with the keyword "asap."
The next time you need to type the phrase "as soon as possible" into
your favorite Windows word processor, you simply type "asap", press
the Space bar, and Shorthand inserts "as soon as possible" right into
your Windows word processor. Shorthand works with most Windows word
processors, text editors and even text fields in most Windows dialog
boxes. A good illustration of the flexibility of Shorthand is the
common (and tedious) procedure of entering your credit card number
when filling out a Web order form. With Shorthand, you first
enter the credit card number and a unique keyword into Shorthand's
dictionary. The next time you need to type the credit card number,
just type the keyword and Shorthand will type the credit card number
for you!
DISTRIBUTION LICENSE
--------------------
