- If you're viewing this file it should mean you have installed
- the program successfully (see README.TXT that came with the
- distribution archive if you are experiencing any installation
- difficulties).
-
- This little text file is just to point out that all of
- Macro Mania's files reside in the subdirectory where you
- installed it, along with the ICONS subdirectory created
- directly beneath it. I have chosen to do this to help avoid
- any conflicts with other programs and so you can easily identify
- which files you may need to delete or copy/move to another PC.
-
- Because some program(mers) do not correctly follow procedures
- about installing files to the common Windows subdirectories
- (e.g. \Windows and \Windows\System), common VBX's and DLL's
- can get overwritten by OLDER versions and cause other programs
- not to work. Thus, it is becoming common practice to install
- a program's own files to its own subdirectory. Although this
- takes a little more hard drives space, it is safer and ends up
- saving users a lot of hassle in the long run. Given that one's
- time is usually much more of a premium than hard disk space (in
- fact, I've found that while hard disk prices continue to drop,
- the demand on my time continues to increase <g>), this policy is
- quickly becoming popular. If you wish to experiment about which
- VBX's and DLL's you think will safely reside in your Windows\System
- subdirectory and are experienced enough to do so, you *MAY* wish
- to copy those files as needed. I only recommend this if hard
- disk space is an absolute premium and you are experienced
- enough to do so.
