  4. Welcome to Space Estate!
  5. -------------------------
  6. Space Estate is a single or multiplayer game designed for 
  7. ease of use and high action.  It can be run on single home 
  8. systems or on dedicated servers. Game play is action 
  9. oriented with high rewards for new players and even higher 
  10. rewards for the experienced.

  14. Documentation is provided as html files.  Load the doc.htm 
  15. file into your web browser to view the documention.

  17. System Requirements
  18. -------------------
  19. Space Estate ships in two forms:
  20. Win32 native executables and
  21. Java(tm) class files
  22. If you are running Windows 95 or Windows NT you can use the 
  23. Win32 Native executables.
  24. If you are on some other platform that supports java, you 
  25. can run the Java class files.  The java class file 
  26. distribution is available from www.triosoft.com.

  28. NOTE:
  29. If you do not have a sound card and experience problems, you 
  30. should edit the CONFIG.TXT file to turn sound off.

  33. Usage
  34. -----
  35. Space Estate consists of two parts: The server and the client.
  36. The client is called C3Client.exe 
  37. (or C3Client.class if you are using Java).
  38. The server is called C3Server.exe 
  39. (or C3Server.class if you are using Java).
  40.  
  41. TO START THE GAME
  42. - - - - - - - - - 
  43. Run sestate.exe.  This will start BOTH the server and client.
  44. Running a server allows you to play locally against the 
  45. computer as well as allowing others to play using your 
  46. machine.  If you want to start just the client, 
  47. then run "sestate.exe -c".
  48.  
  49. If you are using the java version, run:
  50. java com.triosoft.c3server.C3Server to start the server
  51. java com.triosoft.c3client.C3Client to start the client
  52.  
  53. The client asks for a Host Name.  You may leave it blank or 
  54. enter "localhost" if you wish to connect locally.
  55. Enter your desired player Name in the Player Name field.
  56.  
  57. If you wish to play online using a server that is already 
  58. running, just run the client and enter the name of the server 
  59. running the game in the Host Name field.

  61. A server will be running on www.triosoft.com from time to time.
  62. If you would like to run a server for public use, please let us
  63. know.  Commercial use is forbidden (IE not free).
