===== Information for Users ("READ-ME") ================
README.TXT file for Periodic Table v3.54 32-bit - SWREG #5289
----------------------------------------
Version 3.54 is a bug fix/data update for version 3.53. It fixes a bug
that causes the decay trees to be build improperly when a nuclide has
multiple decays of the same mode. It also updates the ELEMENT.TXT,
NUCLIDE.TXT and DAUGHTER.TXT files to reflect the new offical names
that were recently accepted by the IUPAC.
3.53 is a bug fix for version 3.52. It fixes a bug that may occur under
Windows NT which causes the program to crash when openings a Data
window..
3.51 is a minor bug fix to update the atomic number field, where it was
always 0.
3.5 is a major update of Periodic Table it adds a chemical nomenclature
quiz, adds specific gravity to the data items for each element,
consolidates the program option on a single tabbed dialog, adds new
navigation features and adds the option of viewing the decay trees
either in the standard rectangluar boxes or via an icon view. This
release also removes the Paradox database engine that was previously
used. This should eliminate the network problems you may have had in the
past.
3.0b is a minor bug fix. It fixes a resource leak. It is free to any
registered 3.x user. Contact SMI at the phone number or address below
for details.
3.0a is a minor bug fix. It fixes two minor printing problems.
Features
3.0 is a major release of Periodic Table. It adds significant new
funtionality.
* New data items have been added: Modulus of elasticity, Coefficient of
thermal expansion, valence, ionic radius, and three user fields which
the user can use to store any other data.
* The Decay trees have been changed to make them clearer and more easily
followed. You can also get the decay energy information on a decay by
double-clicking on a nuclide on the decay window. The data window is
now tabbed so you can very easily switch from one data section to
another. The element property dialog has been enhanced to allow
graphing the property and adding addional properties to the graph.
* A molecular weight calculator has been added.
* An Atomic % to Weight % converter has been added.
* A radioactive dose rate estimator has been added.
* Periodic Table now has a tool bar and a status bar.
* Context sensitive help has been added throughout the program.
* Legends now stay put and their position is remembered between
sessions.
* The main window now remembers its position and size from one session
to the next.
* Three different group name standards are now supported and can be set
by the user.
* The font used by the decay trees can also be set by the user.
With the above changes Periodic Table continues to be the premere
periodic table utility on the market. Most of these enhancements were
suggested by users. Please keep those suggestions coming in!
Periodic Table is designed for use by individuals ranging from students
of chemistry, chemistry hobbyists, industry professionals, and academic
researchers as well as instructors of chemistry. Periodic Table
provides comprehensive and detailed element information ranging from
atomic number to thermal conductivity. It also provides information on
over 890 isotopes of the 112 elements, including abundance, half-life
and decay mode. Periodic Table supports the use of the Windows
clipboard to aid in using the information in presentations, school
homework, and technical documents. Periodic Table also allows you to
print much of its data.
This version of Periodic Table requires at least Windows 95. It will
also run on Windows NT 4.0. If it is installed on a Windows 3.0 system,
it will not run.
Registered users of any prior version may upgrade for a $10.00 fee by
calling SMI at (918)241-2301. All orders will be charged a $3.50
shipping and handling fee. See ORDER.TXT for ordering information.

===== License for Use and Distribution =================
Periodic Table is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to
the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends, but
please do not give it away altered or as part of another system. The
essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer
users with quality software without high prices, and yet to provide
incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products. If you
find this program useful and find that you are using Periodic Table and
continue to use Periodic Table after a reasonable trial period, you must
make a payment of the amount specified in the Order Form to SMI

receive an automatic trial period extention. This extention will be for
30 days or 30 uses, whichever is longer. You can receive at most two
