  21. 1. Manual Installation for Microsoft Word 7.0

  23.  If the WriteExpress Easy Letters program was not installed correctly for
  24.  Microsoft Word 7.0, then read this section.
  25.  
  26.  If the WriteExpress Easy Letters Setup program could not locate the
  27.  WINWORD\STARTUP directory, the file writex32.wll was installed to the
  28.  PROGRAM directory under the target directory chosen during installation.
  29.  
  30.  There are two options for manual installation:
  31.  a. Option One--Copy all Writing Express files to the Word startup directory.
  32.  
  33.     To do this, locate the WINWORD\STARTUP directory. By default, this
  34.     directory is c:\msoffice\winword\startup
  35.  
  36.     Copy all the WriteExpress Easy Letters files to the WINWORD\STARTUP
  37.     directory. Run Microsoft Word 7. Click WriteExpress Easy Letters from the
  38.     Word Tools menu.
  39.  
  40.  b. Option Two--Create a shortcut to Microsoft Word 7 and load
  41.     WriteExpress Easy Letters as an add-on program.
  42.  
  43.     To do this, right click on your desktop. Select New and then Shortcut.
  44.     Next, type
  45.     C:\MSOffice\Winword\Winword.exe /lc:\DESTINATION DIRECTORY\writex32.wll
  46.     where C:\MSOffice\Winword\ is the directory of Microsoft Word 7.0 and
  47.     c:\DESTINATION DIRECTORY\ is the directory where WriteExpress Easy
  48.     Letters was installed.

  50.     Click the shortcut you created for Microsoft Word 7.0. After Word loads,
  51.     start WriteExpress Easy Letters from the Word Tools menu.

  54. 2. Manual Installation for Microsoft Word 97
  55. -----------------------------------------------
  56.  If the WriteExpress Easy Letters Setup program could not locate the

  74.     To do this, right click on your desktop. Select New and then Shortcut.

  77.     where C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\ is the directory of

  79.     WriteExpress Easy Letters was installed.

  81.     Click the shortcut you created for Microsoft Word 97. After Word loads,

  84. 3. Uninstall WriteExpress Easy Letters

  86.  To uninstall WriteExpress Easy Letters, carry out the following procedure:

  88.  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  89.  2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  90.  3. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click WriteExpress Easy Letters, and then
  91.     click Add/Remove.

  94. 4. How to use WriteExpress Easy Letters
  95. -----------------------------------------------
  96. To use the program in Windows 95, 98 or NT:
  97. If you are using Microsoft Word 97, Word 7.0, or Corel
  98. WordPerfect 8 or WordPerfect 7, WriteExpress will integrate
  99. directly with your word processor tools menu. When you are
  100. prepared to write a letter in these word processors, simply
  101. access WriteExpress Easy Letters by selecting it from the tools
  102. menu, and follow the three-step process below:
  103.  
  104. Write letters in three easy steps:
  105.  
  106. 1. Select your letter topic.
  107.  
  108. Click either the Show categories and topics button or the Search
  109. for a topic button. If you use the Show categories and topics
  110. button, click on one of the 56 writing categories to see the list
  111. of topics in that category. Select your topic and click the Next
  112. button to continue.
  113.  
  114. If you want to search for a topic containing specific words,
  115. click the Search for a topic button. Type one or more words you
  116. want to find. For example, type congratulate to find all topics
  117. containing the word congratulate.
  118.  
  119. Click on the Find button.
  120.  
  121. Tip: Click the Options button to enhance your search. If the word
  122. you searched for is not found, try a different form of the word.
  123. Select your topic and click the Next button to continue.

  125. 2. See the writing tips and steps recommended by professionals.

  127. Tips provide do's, don'ts, and other helpful information for
  128. writing a letter about the topic you've selected.
  129.  
  130. Steps guide you through the writing process, instructing you how
  131. to begin, develop, and end the letter. Click the Next button to
  132. continue.

  135. 3. Focus on each step and select sample sentences and phrases
  136. that you can insert into your word processor. Or, insert one of
  137. more than 2,000 professionally written letters and add your
  138. personal touch.
  139.  
  140. Sentences. The first step will appear with example sentences
  141. (items) that illustrate ways of expressing the content of that
  142. step. When you find a sentence that seems to be close to what you
  143. want to say, you may copy and paste the sentence into your
  144. document. If you invoked WriteExpress from your word processor's
  145. Tools menu, click the Insert button to insert that sentence into
  146. your document. You may edit the sentence to meet your specific
  147. needs either before or after you insert/copy it into your
  148. document.

  150. Repeat this procedure with all subsequent steps until the letter
  151. contains all the important ideas. At any time you may minimize
  152. the WriteExpress window or close it for final editing in your
  153. word processor.

  155. Phrases. With each step you may also click on the Phrases button
  156. to see a list of phrases that good writers use when focusing on
  157. that step. You may also insert/copy any phrase into your
  158. document.

  160. Letters. Each topic contains three or more ready-to-use letters.
  161. Click on the "Letters of current topic" button to see the
  162. letters. You may also insert/copy any letter into your document.

  164. 5.  About Phrase a Thought
  165. --------------------------------------------------------------
  166. Phrase a Thought can help you find specific words in phrases,
  167. sentences, and letters to help you phrase a thought. For example,
  168. if you want to express thanks to someone, you can search for
  169. sentences, phrases, or letters containing the word thank.
  170.  
  171. Click the Sentences button. Type thank in the edit text box.
  172. Click the Find button to see sentences containing the word thank.
  173.  
  174. Click the Phrases button to see phrases containing the word
  175. thank.
  176.  
  177. Click the Letters button to see letters containing the word
  178. thank.
  179.  
  180. Tip: Click the Options button to enhance your search. If the word
  181. you searched for is not found, try a different form of the word.

  184. 6.  WriteExpress Rhymer and Phonetic Finder Product Description
  185. --------------------------------------------------------------
  186. WriteExpress offers you the most powerful rhyming tool available!
  187. It is a "Must Have" for poets, song writers, linguists, teachers,
  188. researchers, and other language lovers.
  189.  
  190. With Rhymer you can find a rhyme in no time. Search for end
  191. rhymes, last syllable rhymes, double rhymes, triple rhymes,
  192. beginning rhymes, or first syllable rhymes. You can also specify
  193. the number of syllables or letters you want in the words.
  194.  
  195. With Phonetic Finder you can save time brainstorming for words
  196. containing specific sound combinations. First, choose symbols
  197. from the phonetic chart containing symbols for English vowels,
  198. stops, fricatives, affricates, liquids, and glides. Use the "wild
  199. card" symbols to match zero or more sounds, any single sound,
  200. consonant, or vowel sounds. Once you have assembled your phonetic
  201. pattern, click the Search button to retrieve a list of words with
  202. that pattern. The Phonetic Finder quickly assembles data for
  203. minimal pairs, pronunciations exercises, phonics research, and
  204. other types of phonetic study.
