  1. The Lim Slide Show Version 4.80

  4. Thank You for acquiring the Lim Slide Show. This is a Shareware product
  5. that is free for evaluation and distribution for a 30-day period, after
  6. which, you must register the product in order to continue its use legally.
  7. Once registered, you are not allowed to distribute your registered copy of
  8. the program, but can continue to freely distribute unregistered copies of 
  9. our program for purposes of playing slide shows produced by you.
  10.  
  11. The Lim Slide Show is a multimedia slide show presenter/manager that helps
  12. you to create slide shows/screen savers of your images, video clips, animation, 
  13. sound effects, text narratives and plays them with your music selection on a 
  14. beautiful background of changing colors with over 100 special transition effects.

  16. It is optimised for 16-bit or higher (high color & above) color display systems 
  17. but will also work in 256-color modes. In 256-color mode, the user has only 236
  18. colors to use since Windows reserves 20 colors for itself. Thus, the user has to 
  19. be careful when combining images of different colors on the same screen. The Lim
  20. Slide Show will attempt to compose an optimum color palette containing all the major
  21. colors of the combined images, but color distortions may occur if there are
  22. insufficient colors to cater for all the colors used. Image quality may also
  23. deteriorate if there are insufficient colors. Thus, It is highly recommended that 
  24. you set your display to at leaset 16-bit color(high color) & above for best image & 
  25. color quality with a screen resolution of 800X600 pixels.

  27. This evaluation version is fully functional except that it will play up to 10 slides only.
  28. A reminder to register the program will be displayed after every 5 slides. Also, the
  29. unregistered version does not allow you to produce screen savers or slide shows for 
  30. distribution.

  32. Once registered, a Registration Number will be generated to remove these limitations 
  33. and you will get another file to allow you to configure your favourite slide show as 
  34. a screen saver. Registered users will also be able to distribute their slide shows to 
  35. external parties.

  37. FREE DEMO SLIDE SHOWS

  39. Version 3.00 & above, has the capability to play multiple demo slide show files with no restrictions,
  40. even for unregistered users. At the moment, we offer the Lim Family's TRIBUTE TO PRINCESS 
  41. DIANA, the Lim Family's Christmas & the 1998 Chinese New Year Celebrations slide shows. 
  42. These slide shows also serve to demonstrate the capabilities of our product. You can download 
  43. our Princess Diana slide show or any other demo slide shows we offer from our web site at

  46. These slide shows were designed for 16-bit color with 800X600 screen resolution and is best 
  47. viewed in this resolution. However, 1 of the powerful features of our product is that it can 
  48. resize images & text automatically to fit any screen resolution & therefore can run the Demo 
  49. slide show on other screen resolutions. Preferably, the color resolution should be at least 
  50. 64K colors (16-bit). It will also run on 256-color mode but image quality may deteriorate 
  51. slightly (there aren't enough colors on the 256-color pallete).

  53. To run these demo slide shows, click on the RUN button without selecting anything. From the file
  54. selection dialog box, click on DIANA.FGA or CHRIST.FGA or CNY.FGA. We recommend that you run 
  55. these demo slide shows as an introduction to the power of our product.

  57. You can use our program to create your own Princess Diana or any other 
  58. slide shows of the same or even better quality than our demo. By registering
  59. our program, you will receive setup files to configure our Princess Diana
  60. Slide Show into a screen saver, or you can replace it with your own slide
  61. shows as the screen saver. You will also have the capability to distribute your
  62. work to external parties.

  64. Win 3.x users with 256-color screen resolution
  65. ==============================================
  66. If your are a Win 3.1 or 3.11 user with 256-color screen resolution, you may find that certain
  67. display effects are disabled. If you encounter this problem on your system, then you'll need to
  68. install Microsoft's Video For Windows or WinG APIs. These APIs can be downloaded FREE from
  69. Microsoft's web site. These APIs are used to speed up graphic transitions under 256-color modes.
  70. Our recommendation is to switch to at least High color in order to fully enjoy our program.

  72. Installation
  73. ============
  74. To install the product, unzip limss232.zip (the 32-bit version) or limss216.zip
  75. (the 16-bit version) to extract the contents into a directory of your choice.
  76.  
  77. Execute lssetup.exe to install the product. When prompted to select a
  78. directory to install the product, you can choose the same directory or a
  79. new one. Upon successful installation, lssetup.exe will create a windows
  80. program group and generate a Product Serial Number. This Serial Number
  81. will be stored in a file called Limss.inf, together with other relevant
  82. information. You can also view the Serial Number by clicking on the REGISTER
  83. button.

  85. When you decide to register this product, the file called Limss.inf must be
  86. sent via email attachment to the author for use to generate a Registration Number
  87. which will unlock the full capabilities of the product.

  89. Besides installation, lssetup.exe will be used to enter your Registration Key,
  90. setup your screen saver and to uninstall the product.

  92. It is important for you to record the Serial Number and Registration Key
  93. somewhere as they are proof that you are a registered user of the Lim Slide
  94. Show and entitles you to benefits such as free upgrades and technical
  95. support.

  97. Personalising the main screen
  98. ==============================
  99. An image of the Lim Family is used on the program main screen. You may 
  100. personalise the program by replacing the Lim Family image called logo.gif in 
  101. the Lim Slide Show folder, with your own family photo or company logo. Your 
  102. image must also be called logo.xxx where xxx can be bmp, jpg, gif or tga 
  103. formats. So, please go ahead and turn the Lim Slide Show program into your 
  104. personal program but please ensure that your image is properly sized in order 
  105. to fit into the main screen without obscuring the buttons.

  107. Getting Started
  108. ===============
  109. The Lim Slide Show has been designed with an intuitive user interface and is
  110. extremely easy to operate. It takes only a few seconds to create a basic but 
  111. dazzling multimedia slide show. First click on the SELECT button. From the 
  112. drop-down list, click NEW to begin a new slide selection or click OPEN to add 
  113. more slides from any folder to the existing slide selection. Then, click on the 
  114. FILE MODE button to select individual files or groups of files (by clicking 
  115. while holding down the Ctrl key). To select files from a whole directory, 
  116. click on the TGA, JPG, BMP or GIF sub-buttons to automatically select 
  117. files of the desired type before clicking on the DIRECTORY MODE button to select 
  118. the target directory. If you want background music, click on the EDIT button, 
  119. select EDIT MUSIC & click ADD to select wav, midi or CD Audio tracks.

  121. That's it - just click on the RUN button & your slide show will play on a beautiful 
  122. background of randomly changing colors with special transition effects to the 
  123. accompaniment of your music selection.

  125. Of course, you can create a much more elaborate presentation by clicking on the EDIT 
  126. button & select EDIT SLIDES. You may refer to the program Help File for further details 
  127. on all the features available to create a spectacular multimedia presentation. Click on 
  128. the HELP button on the program main screen to invoke the Help File.

  130. Registration
  131. ============
  132. If you would like to have unlimited slide displays, the ability to distribute
  133. your work as well as to setup your favourite slide show as a screen saver, you 
  134. must register the program.

  136. The registration fee is US$25 and you can perform this easily by clicking on 
  137. the HELP button and then select 'Order program'. This will connect you directly 
  138. to our SECURE ORDER FORM via the internet.

  140. Once registration is confirmed, we will email to you the Registration
  141. Number, a screen saver setup file and our Tribute to Princess Diana Slide Show file for
  142. you to configure as a screen saver.
