  41.     <p>This is an experimental variant of the standard
  42.     <code class="module"><a href="../mod/worker.html">worker</a></code> MPM. It uses a Leader/Followers design pattern

  46.       <code>--with-mpm=leader</code> to the <code>configure</code> script's
  47.       arguments when building the <code>httpd</code>.</p>

  49.     <p>This MPM depends on APR's atomic compare-and-swap operations for
  50.     thread synchronization. If you are compiling for an x86 target
  51.     and you don't need to support 386s, or you are compiling for a
  52.     SPARC and you don't need to run on pre-UltraSPARC chips, add
  53.     <code>--enable-nonportable-atomics=yes</code> to the <code>configure</code>
  54.     script's arguments. This will cause APR to implement atomic operations
  55.     using efficient opcodes not available in older CPUs.</p>
