  5. What is DesktopKeeper?
  6. All-in-one software that includes a lot of useful and totally unusual features!

  8. History of creation.
  9. Personally, I dislike the way that the "Windows auto Arrange icons" function 
  10. works. It seems to me I manage them much better and, naturally, I'd like to 
  11. have the product of my genius last.
  12. As for my little son, he loves to operate the Windows desktop icons while 
  13. playing. I used to enjoy watching him playing games until I found some of 
  14. the icons missing and others in total disarray.

  16. I've tired of the daily routine of reinstating my icons.  
  17.  
  18. Besides my youngster, I have another desktop "enemy" - Windows itself; 
  19. the program that rearranges the icons each time you dare to make video-mode 
  20. changes.

  22. So, I created this software, named DesktopKeeper.

  24. What it does:

  26. ·  Blocks unauthorized access to your desktop;
  27. · Creates two virtual desktops: working and private;
  28. · Allows to quickly manage opened windows on the desktop;
  29. · Changes wallpaper on your desktop by smart wallpaper manager;
  30. · Fast creating and printing and e-mailing screenshots.
  31. · Saves icons layout and shortcuts from the Windows desktop to a file. 
  32.   The filename is automatically composed, taking into consideration the screen
  33.   resolution, current date and time;
  34. · Restores the shortcuts and icons layout out of the file;
  35. · Checks if the desktop layout has changed in comparison with the previous
  36.   saved file;
  37. · Hides/ Shows the Windows system icons on the desktop;
  38. · Hides/Shows all icons on the desktop;
  39. · Hides/Shows the Windows taskbar;
  40. · Sets transparent icons text of desktop icons;
  41. · Minimizes all opened windows;
  42. · Closes all opened windows;
  43. · Launches the screen saver;
  44. · Quick change the screen resolution;
  45. · Provides a hot key to maximize any window;
  46. · Provides a hot key to minimize any window;
  47. · Automates the crearting of useful shortcuts to your desktop, start menu and 
  48.   quick launch bar;

  67. - A personal computer with an Intel 80386DX processor or higher, or a 486/25 or higher
  68.   processor (for Windows NT/2000/XP).
  69. - Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME,  Windows NT  4.0, 
  70.   Windows 2000, Windows XP. 
  71. - The amount of disk space you need to install DesktopKeeper is approximately 3 MB.
  72. - The memory requirements for DekstopKeeper are similar to those for your 
  73.   operating system (Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME or Windows NT/2000/XP).

  75. II. Installing and Upgrading DesktopKeeper

  77. Installing at first time:
  78. 1. Double-click executable file to launch it.
  79. 2. Setup will guide you through the rest of the installation
  80.   process.
  81. 3. Configure DesktopKeeper.

  83. Upgrading: 
  84.  You can install new version over old. 
  85.  There are no reasons for uninstalling previous version of DesktopKeeper.
  86.  But it is necessarily should close DesktopKeeper before running setup.
  87.  It is very important!

  93. III. Unistalling DesktopKeeper

  95. 1) Open the Control Panel (on the Start menu choose Settings,
  96.   Control Panel).
  97. 2) Double-click on the "Add/Remove programs" icon.
  98. 3) Search in the list for "DesktopKeeper" and double-click on it,
  99.    or open Start menu, DesktopKeeper and choose Uninstall in submenu.

  104. user license costs $29.95. Multi-user licenses are available.
