<p>You might want to rename a <glossary>payee</glossary> to better describe it, or you may need to change it if the payee changes its name, or you misspelled it. You can also combine duplicate payees by renaming one to the other.</p>

<li>Go to the <emph>Set up your payees</emph> page.</li>

<li>On the <emph>Accounts & Bills</emph> menu, click <emph>Categories & Payees</emph>.</li>
<li>In the left pane, click <emph>Payees</emph>.</li>

<li>Click the payee you want to change.</li>
<p>If you find more than one name for the same payee, only click the name of the payee you want to change.</p>
<li>At the bottom of the page, click <emph>Rename</emph>.</li>
<li>In the <emph>New name</emph> box, type the name you want to use for this payee, and then click <emph>OK</emph>.</li>

<p variant="note">When you rename a payee, the name is changed in all transactions containing the old name. Online payees, however, cannot be renamed.</p>
