<content>
<p><i>Matching</i> means linking a transaction you manually entered in Money to a transaction downloaded from your bank or brokerage. By matching transactions, Money makes sure that your register doesn't contain two versions of the same transaction.</p>
<p>For example, suppose you write a check to the toy store and manually enter the check in Money. After the check clears your bank, it will appear on your bank statement. When you download the statement, your register will show two records of your check to the toy store<mdash/>the record you entered, and the one you downloaded from the bank.</p>
<p>Because your register will be inaccurate if it contains two copies of a single transaction, Money compares your manual entries to the bank's records each time you download a statement. When Money finds transactions that might be duplicates, it matches them. When you review the matches, you can:</p>
<ul>
<li><emph>Unmatch the transactions.</emph> If the transactions are not really duplicates, you can unmatch them, and then either:</li>
<ul>
<li>Match the bank transaction to a different item in the register.</li>
<p><ndash/> or<ndash/></p>
<li>Leave the transactions unmatched.</li>
</ul>
<li><emph>Accept the match.</emph> When you accept a match, Money combines the transactions so that you won't have duplicate items in your register. </li>
</ul>
<p variant="note">After you accept a match, you cannot unmatch the transactions. If you aren't sure about a match, leave the bank transaction unmatched. Later, review your register, compare the transactions, and decide which one to keep.</p>

<p>If you believe that the transactions from your bank are accurate, you can speed up the matching process by accepting all the downloaded transactions at one time. </p>
