<p variant="note">Use this procedure for regular bonds only. To enter a savings bond, click <emph>CD/US Savings Bond </emph>as the investment type in step 5. To enter a mutual fund that invests in bonds, click <emph>Mutual Fund</emph> in step 5, and then follow the instructions on the screen.</p>
<ol>
<li>On the <emph>Investing</emph> menu, click <emph>Portfolio</emph>.</li>
<li>In the left pane, click <emph>Add an investment</emph>.</li>
<li>Select the account to which you want to add the bond, and then click <emph>Next</emph>.</li>
<li>In the <emph>Investment name</emph> box, type a unique name for the bond, and then click <emph>Next</emph>.</li>
<li>Click <emph>Bond</emph>, and then click <emph>Next</emph></li>
<li>Click the type of bond you're adding, and then click <emph>Next</emph>.</li>
<li>Verify that the information you've entered is correct, and then click <emph>Next</emph>.</li>
<li>Use your bond records to enter the details for this account:</li>
<ul>
<li><emph>Rating.</emph> Select the rating assigned to the bond by rating companies such as Moody or Standard & Poor's. If your bond has more than one rating, choose one. Not all bonds are rated.</li>
<li><emph>Coupon rate.</emph> Enter the annual interest rate that you will be paid for the bond. (This is different from the <glossary>yield to maturity</glossary>).</li>
<li><emph>Interest paid.</emph> Select how often the interest will be paid.</li>
<li><emph>Maturity date.</emph> Choose the date your bond becomes due and payable. <frgmnt sku="dlxbiz">When your bond is close to maturity, Money will display an Advisor FYI message to remind you.</frgmnt></li>
<li><emph>Call date.</emph> Enter the earliest date a bond can be redeemed by the issuer. If there are multiple dates, enter the earliest one.</li>
<li><emph>Status.</emph> If the bond interest is exempt from federal taxes, select the <emph>Tax exempt</emph> check box.</li>
</ul>
<li>Click <emph>Finish</emph>.</li>
<li>Use your transaction records to enter details for this transaction:</li>
<ul>
<li><emph>Quantity.</emph> Enter the face value of the bond.</li>
<li><emph>Price.</emph> Enter the price of the bond, which is generally a percentage of the face value.</li>
<li><emph>Accrued interest ($).</emph> Enter the amount of interest that has accrued between the last interest payment date and the date of sale.</li>
