<ol>
<li>Have your bank or credit card account statement handy.</li>
<li>On the <emph>Accounts & Bills</emph> menu, click <emph>Account List</emph>.</li>
<li>Click the account you want to reconcile (balance).</li>
<li>In the left pane, click <emph>Balance this account</emph>.</li>
<li>In the <emph>Statement date</emph> box, enter the ending date shown on your statement.</li>
<li>In the <emph>Ending balance</emph> box, type the amount shown on your account statement. The <emph>Starting balance</emph> should be the same as the ending balance from the last time the account was balanced.</li>
<li>Enter any service charges or interest earned or charged during this balance period, and then click <emph>Next</emph>. Do not enter service charges or interest that you have already downloaded.</li>
<li>Compare the transactions on your statement with those in your Money account register. </li>
<ul>
<li>For each transaction in the account register that matches one on your statement, click the <emph>C</emph> (cleared) field to mark it as cleared. You can compare the total amount of cleared deposits and payments in the left pane with the total deposits and withdrawals on your bank statement.</li>
<li>If a transaction was entered incorrectly in the account register, click the transaction and type the correction.</li>
<li>If transactions show on your statement but not in your account register, click <emph>New</emph>, enter the transaction details, and then click the <emph>C</emph> column to mark it as cleared.</li>
</ul>
<li>The left pane shows your cleared account register balance and the bank statement balance. When the difference between these balances is zero, your account is balanced. In the left pane, click <emph>Next</emph>, and then follow the instructions on the screen.</li>
</ol>
<p variant="note">When you finish, all transactions that you have cleared will have an <emph>R</emph> (for reconciled) in the <emph>C</emph> column.</p>
