  4. This is the Read Me file for the 3D Blaster PCI Windows 95 drivers
  5. update, containing information on how to replace the 3D Blaster PCI 
  6. drivers currently in use on your system with the latest version (v2.06).
  7.  
  8. This file contains the following sections:

  10. 1. How to install the latest set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers for Windows 95
  11. 2. What are the enhancements in this version of the drivers?

  15. 1. How to install the latest set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers for Windows 95
  16.    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

  18.    To install this set of drivers for the 3D Blaster PCI, follow the
  19.    steps listed below:
  20.  
  21.      1. Create a new directory on your hard-disk (eg, C:\NEWDRV)
  22.      2. Copy the new set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers to this directory
  23.      3. Click on the Windows 95 Start button, select Settings, and click
  24.            on Control Panel
  25.      4. Double-click on the Display applet. This will launch the 'Display
  26.         Properties' page
  27.      5. Click on the 'Settings' tab
  28.      6. Click on the 'Change Display Type' button. This brings up the
  29.         'Change Display Type' dialog
  30.      7. You should see the entry '3D Blaster PCI' in the 'Adapter Type'
  31.         field. Click on the 'Change' button next to '3D Blaster PCI'
  32.         (this will bring up the 'Select Device' page)
  33.      8. Click on the 'Have Disk' button
  34.      9. At the dialog box, type in the directory path to where the new
  35.         3D Blaster PCI drivers are found (eg, C:\NEWDRV) and click OK.
  36.     10. A new 'Select Device' page will appear. Make sure '3D Blaster PCI'
  37.         is highlighted and click on 'OK'
  38.     11. The new 3D Blaster PCI drivers will now be copied to your system.
  39.     12. The screen will now return to the 'Change Display Type' dialog.
  40.         Click on the 'Close' button (this will return you to the 
  41.         'Display Properties' page)
  42.     13. Click on the 'Close' button.
  43.     14. When prompted to restart the system, click on 'Yes'. After your
  44.         PC restarts, the new 3D Blaster PCI Windows 95 drivers will take
  45.         effect.

  47.    Note: The instructions above may vary depending on which version of
  48.      Windows 95 is installed in your system. If you have purchased your
  49.      PC with Windows 95 pre-installed, you may be using a newer
  50.      version of Windows 95 (called 'OSR2').

  52.      To find out if you have the 'OSR2' version of Windows 95, follow
  53.      these steps:
  54.  
  55.      (a) Right-click on the 'My Computer' icon in the Windows 95 desktop
  56.      (b) Select 'Properties' (this brings up the 'System Properties' page)
  57.      (c) Click on the 'General' tab
  58.      (d) Look at the entry for 'System'. If it states:
  59.  
  60.         Microsoft Windows 95
  61.         4.00.950 B
  62.  
  63.          then you have the 'OSR2' version of Windows 95. Older versions
  64.          of Windows 95 will just have '4.00.950' or '4.00.950a'
  65.  
  66.      To install the new set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers on your system if
  67.      you are using the 'OSR2' version of Windows 95, follows the steps
  68.      below.

  70.      1. Create a new directory on your hard-disk (eg, C:\NEWDRV)
  71.      2. Copy the new set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers to this directory
  72.      3. Click on the Windows 95 Start button, select Settings, and click
  73.            on Control Panel

  101.     * Compatibility with Microsoft DirectX 3.0a drivers
  102.     * Bugfix to the 3DB PCI VXD driver in certain cases of 
  103.           running Direct3D applications
  104.     * Resolution of certain display problems in different localized
  105.       (language) versions of Windows 95
