  6. MP3 Compressor, is a STANDALONE 32bit program for
  7. compressing audio files with MPEG Layer 3 on Windows 95.
  8. 3 times faster than previous DOS program !
  9. This program should work on WinNT but has not been
  10. tested on this platform. (My NT partition has been
  11. deleted, and I have not installed it again at
  12. present)  Give me your feedback on using MP3 Compressor
  13. on this platform.

  15. MPEG Layer 3 is a efficient coding technique that
  16. produce a great data reduction on audio data.  With a
  17. 44100Hz frequency coding, the original sound data from
  18. a audio CD is skrink down by a factor 12 without losing
  19. sound quality. Factors of 24 and even more still
  20. maintain a sound quality that is significantly better
  21. than what you get by just reducing the sampling rate
  22. and the resolution of your samples. Basically, this is realized
  23. by "perceptual coding" techniques adressing the perception
  24. of sound waves by the human ear.
