  3.         This 'CHECKOUT' BBS distributes software for the sole purpose
  4.       of testing prior to purchase.  You've 24 hours to try the software
  5.       and determine that it is worth  purchasing, then you must  destroy
  6.       it.   The  BBS Sysop feels  that it is  unfair to  computer  users
  7.       that they are unable to evaluate software to see if it suits their
  8.       needs.  Many  users have purchased products by the way the program
  9.       'looks' on the box and have been extremely disappointed - and have
  10.       therefore wasted their money and (more important) time.  Nobody in
  11.       their right  mind would purchase a  car  without  test  driving it
  12.       first,  or  for  that  matter...purchase  clothes  without  trying
  13.       them  on, so how  can  software  vendors  expect users to  buy one
  14.       of their products without first testing it?  They will send copies
  15.       of their software to large corporations to test but seem to forget
  16.       there are also other users in the market willing to purchase their
  17.       product if it meets their needs.   This is where this checkout BBS
  18.       comes in.   This program is for evaluation only,  if you like this
  19.       product  then  go  to  your  local computer store and purchase it,
  20.       otherwise PLEASE do not USE or in anyway DISTRIBUTE this  product!
  21.       There are many advantages to purchasing this product including:

  23.       1) Technical Support: Software vendors set  up  technical  support
  24.                          lines  for  the  purpose  of  helping  their
  25.                       registered users get the  most  out  of  the
  26.                         product and help with any bug concerns, etc.
  27.                 It is to your advantage to be  able  to  use
  28.                 this (and the many features of the program).

  30.       2) Manuals:           Manuals are  a  very  important  part  of  a
  31.                       software package.  No book  or text file can
  32.                     replace the  original  manuals,  which  come
  33.                 with the product. This enables  the  user to
  34.                 get the most out of the package,  especially
  35.                 with the very complex programs of today.
  36.  
  37.       3) Upgrades:          With  buying  the  original program, you are
  38.                 entitled  to  low priced or free upgrades to
  39.                 new versions, bug fixes, and 'enhancements'.

  41.       4) Legality:          Using a program  without owning a registered
  42.                 copy is illegal.

  44.       5) Control Of The     When  companies  who  create  good  products
  45.          Industry:          are  supported,  it  reinforces the need for
  46.                      good products and helps the company continue
  47.                 to create more  quality  products.   On  the
  48.                 other hand, companies who create substandard
  49.                 products have  two  options; either  improve
  50.                 their products or get out of the industry.

  52.       Until  companies come up with a better  way  of  allowing  users  to
  53.       test their products before purchasing, 'checkout' BBSs will continue
  54.       to make available products  for  your  testing.  Companies  recently
  55.       have started to head in this  direction and you can now return  some
  56.       products  to  the  company  if  you  are  not  completely  satisfied
  57.       (Norton, and a few others), but this does not remedy  the  situation
  58.       as the refund/credit takes a long time to get processed and is a BIG
  59.       hassle!   We feel that under the current software industry standards
  60.       of doing business, that evaluating software releases prior to actual
  61.       purchase is still the best solution.

  65.       This BBS is a  non-profit  library  which  allows you to sample files
  66.       before purchasing them. Once you have seen what the  product is like,
  67.       either  purchase  the product, or remove it from any and all
  68.       disks/places of data storage.  Also note, that it is ILLEGAL to copy
  69.       software, and keep the copy, without buying the software.
  70.       Any uploads transfered to the BBS system, are those that the caller
  71.       chose to transfer their right and registration to the product to This
  72.       BBS.

  74.       The uploader takes responsibility for the software, as stated above.
  75.       Since the uploader had transfered the software, and all the rights
  76.       of the software to the BBS, he chooses them to  be made  available
  77.       as demos, to be distributed to those under the intention of fully
  78.       purchasing the software, or simply to use as a preview only to be
  79.       disliked, and therefore removed.

  82.       may be held accountable, and prosecuted.  Remove the files you
  83.       downloaded NOW from all data storage units, if this is your intention.
  84.       Pirating refers to the act of keeping computer software that someone
  85.       else has purchased after you have previewed it, or if you copy the
  86.       software and distribute it to others.
