Transcription: Around 1200 A.D., a warlike nomadic people called the Aztecs moved into what is now central and southern Mexico. They established an empire centered in the spectacular city of Tenochtitlan, built on an island in the middle of a lake and linked to the mainland by wide avenues and wooden drawbridges.
