  25.     To install the Tiberian Sun Demo, run the self-extracting archive tsdemo.exe.á This will create a 
  26.     Westwood\TS Demo directory in the folder from which you ran the file and copy all of the necessary   
  27.     files into that directory. á Once these files have been successfully copied into that directory, you can run the     
  28.     demo by double-clicking on the Sun.exe file, which will be located in the new directory.
  29.     If you wish to create a Shortcut to the Tiberian Sun demo on your desktop, simply click and hold the left-mouse  
  30.     button on Sun.exe and drag it onto the desktop. á The icon will have a small arrow superimposed on it to     
  31.     indicate that a Shortcut to that file is being created.á If this arrow does not appear, you can hold Ctrl-Shift while  
  32.     releasing the mouse button to create the Shortcut.á Once the Shortcut is created, you can rename it by     
  33.     right-clicking it and selecting "Rename".

  37.     2.1 Microsoft DirectX
  38.           The Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun Demo is a Microsoft DirectX application. 
  39.           The demo requires DirectX 6.0 or greater.á The latest version of DirectX is available from Microsoft's web   
  40.           site (http://www.microsoft.com/directx).

  42.     2.2 Microsoft Office Toolbar
  43.           If you make use of this feature of Microsoft Office and it appears over the game screen when playing the      
  44.          Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun demo you will have to disable the Office Toolbar before playing.

  46. 3. Troubleshooting
  47.  
  48.     3.1 Known Video Card Issues
  49.           Video monitor settings may need to be adjusted after installing the Microsoft DirectX video drivers. If your   
  50.           screen distorts, or is shifted horizontally or vertically, you can return it to normal by adjusting the controls   
  51.           on your monitor. 
  52.  
  53.           Most video display problems can be corrected by installing the latest drivers for your particular card.           
  54.           Please consult your video card documentation for details on how to get the latest drivers for your card.

  56.           If you are using a Microsoft Theme Pack and have selected a custom cursor, video corruption can occur.      
  57.           For best results, please use default cursors while playing the Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun demo.

  59.     3.2 Known Sound Card Issues
  60.           Old SoundBlaster AWE 64 and AWE 32 sound card drivers can cause skipping and repeating sound that      
  61.           may cause your computer to run the Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun demo much slower than normal. If    
  62.           you have one of these sound cards and are experiencing these symptoms, please contact your card           
  63.           manufacturer for latest drivers.

  65.           Most sound card problems can be corrected by installing the latest drivers for your particular card. Please   
  66.           consult your sound card documentation for details on how to get the latest drivers.

  68.           If you are using USB speakers, do not turn off the speakers during gameplay.á Doing so may cause the       
  69.           game to crash.

  71.     3.3 Known DirectX Issues
  72.           If another application is using the sound card while trying to run the demo, a "DXSound Error" will appear. If 
  73.           this error occurs, please close all applications and run demo again.
  74.  
  75.     3.4 Virtual Memory Settings
  76.           The Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun demo may need to use more RAM than is present on your system. 
  77.           Windows 95/98 automatically takes care of this by using what is known as "Virtual Memory" - which uses 
  78.           space on your hard disk to simulate the memory it needs and swaps data back and forth from your hard 
  79.           disk as required. Windows 95/98 allows you to manually set the amount of hard drive space it uses for 
  80.           Virtual Memory: WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT DO THIS! To let Windows 95/98 manage the 
  81.           Virtual Memory, go to the Windows 95/98 start menu, select 'settings\control panel', then double-click 
  82.           'system', click 'performance\file system\virtual memory' and then select 'Let Windows manage my virtual 
  83.           memory settings (recommended).'

  85.     3.5 Known System RAM Issues
  86.           Certain systems contain video cards that use system memory as video memory. With these systems, it is 
  87.           possible that the Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun demo will not run properly if you have only 32MB of 
  88.           memory. Since the video card uses system memory, usually 4MB or 8MB, on 32MB machines there is not 
  89.           enough memory left to run the game. In order for the demo to run properly you will need to increase your 
  90.           system memory or use a video card with dedicated video RAM.
