  1. 3D Studio Installation Notes

  4. READ THIS FILE COMPLETELY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO USE THIS PRODUCT !
  5.  
  6. You must run QUICK SETUP from the Main Menu and select an appropriate
  7. monitor type, prior to installing the 3D Studio Display Driver.
  8.

  11. 1) Make sure 3D Studio has already been installed on your hard drive.
  12.  
  13. 2) To complete the install successfully, you will require the following
  14.    information:
  15.  
  16.     a) The full path name of the 3D Studio directory.
  17.     b) The batch file is called ADI3DS.BAT.
  18.  
  19. 3) From the "Drivers Installation" menu, select 3D Studio.
  20.  
  21. 4) When INSTALL has completed copying all necessary files, exit the
  22.     program.
  23.  
  24. 5) Go to the directory where the 386 Protected mode driver files are
  25.     installed, and run ADI3DS.BAT.
  26.  
  27. 6) Go to the 3D Studio base directory  and  delete 3DADI.CFG.
  28.  
  29. 7) For  3D Studio version 1.0:
  30.     a) Type "EDIT 3DS.SET", this will display the 3DS.SET file in the
  31.        DOS editor.
  32.     b) Use the Search function <Alt> S and Find to locate and change
  33.        the following entries:
  34.  
  35.          Old line 123 (approx.):
  36.              DEFAULT-DISPLAY = "vga320x200"
  37.          New line 123 (approx.):
  38.              DEFAULT-DISPLAY = "RCPADI"
  39.  
  40.          Old line 138 (approx.):
  41.             ;MAIN-DISPLAY = RCPADI
  42.          New line 138 (approx.): (remove the ";")
  43.             MAIN-DISPLAY = RCPADI
  44.  
  45.          Old line 145 (approx.):
  46.             ;MATERIAL-DISPLAY = RCPADI
  47.          New line 145 (approx.): ( remove the ";")
  48.             MATERIAL-DISPLAY = RCPADI
  49.  
  50.     c) Launch 3D Studio by typing 3DS.
  51.     d) Configure the screens that appear to the desired mode.

  53. 8) For  3D Studio version 2.0:
  54.     a) Type "EDIT 3DS.SET", this will display the 3DS.SET file in the
  55.        DOS editor.
  56.     b) Use the Search function <Alt> S and Find to locate and change
  57.        the following entries:

  59.          Old line 231 (approx.):
  60.              RENDER-DISPLAY = "vga320X200"
  61.          New line 231 (approx.):
  62.              RENDER-DISPLAY = "RCPADI"
  63.  
  64.          Old line 245 (approx.):
  65.             ;MAIN-DISPLAY = RCPADI
  66.          New line 245 (approx.): (remove the ";")
  67.             MAIN-DISPLAY = RCPADI
  68.  
  69.          Old line 264 (approx.):
  70.             ;MATERIAL-DISPLAY = RCPADI
  71.          New line 264 (approx.): ( remove the ";")
  72.             MATERIAL-DISPLAY = RCPADI

  74.     c) Launch 3D Studio by typing 3DS.
  75.     d) Configure the screens that appear to the desired mode.

  78. 9) For  3D Studio version 3.0 and 4.0:
  79.     a) Type "3DS VIBCFG", this will display the 3D Studio Inline 
  80.         Video Driver Configuration program.
  81.     b) Using the TAB, ARROW and ENTER keys, set Main-Display, Materials-
  82.         Display and Render-Display fields to RCPADI.
  83.     c) Press OK to continue.
  84.     d) Configure the screens that appear to the desired mode.

  87. 10) For further details, please see MANUAL.TXT and README.DLD after 
  88.     installing the driver. The files will be copied to the 3D Studio 
  89.     sub-directory specified during installation.
