  1. Thank you for trying VENDETTA.
  2. ~~~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~
  3. To run VENDETTA, please be certain that all the files that came with the game
  4. are in the current directory.  These files are:
  5.  
  6.         VENS.EXE        CITY1.VEN
  7.         FINISH.VEN        GUN.VEN
  8.         PLAY.VEN        SIDE.VEN
  9.         SIGHT.VEN        VEN.VEN
  10.         WUN.VEN            README.

  13. VENDETTA requires an IBM compatible computer, 640k ram, VGA graphics, and
  14. a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  15.  
  16. To run VENDETTA, type VENS [return].
  17. ~~ ~~~ ~~~~~~~~  ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~~~~~
  18. The object of the game is simply to shoot the bad guys that are hiding all
  19. around town.  Your mouse controls the movement of your sight.  When a
  20. bad guy appears onscreen, move the sight over him and press the left button.
  21.  
  22. If there is no bad guy visible onscreen, there will be an arrow at the top
  23. of the screen pointing in the direction in which he is hiding.  To get him,
  24. move your sight in the direction the arrow is pointing.  When it comes to
  25. the edge of the screen, the town will scroll from that direction.  It will
  26. continue to scroll until you move your sight slightly away from the edge.
  27. (Tip: When a bad guy is off the screen and you're scrolling toward him,
  28. keep your eyes on the arrow.  When it disappears, he is onscreen.  Stop
  29. scrolling and find him.)

  31. When you've cleared one area of town, there will be a "body count" for
  32. some bonus points, and you will move on to another area.
  33.  
  34. Now for what makes the game tough.  You have only a very limited time to
  35. shoot each bad guy before he SHOOTS YOU!  The amount of time varies with
  36. each man, but it is never very long.  (Tip: When the word "DANGER" at the
  37. bottom of the screen starts flashing, you only have about 1½ seconds left.)

  39. You have 3 lives.
  40.  
  41. When the game is over, your score and the high score of the session will be
  42. displayed.

  44. At any time during the game, press the "ESC" key to exit to DOS. Press the
  45. "P" key to pause the game.  (Tip: Please try the pause key.  VENDETTA has
  46. a built-in screen saver when it's pausing that we're quite proud of.)

  48. VENDETTA, The Deluxe Version.

  50. This is the shareware version of VENDETTA.  It is complete and fully
  51. operational.  The deluxe version of VENDETTA includes 3 additional
  52. "Cityscapes", including the Park, the Old Factory, and the Car Lot.
