  1. Welcome to Quarterdeck's CleanSweep 95 Demonstration Edition!

  3. Quarterdeck's CleanSweep saves megabytes of disk space by removing
  4. unused or unwanted Windows programs, system components, and unused and
  5. duplicate files -- quickly, easily, thoroughly, and above all, safely.
  6. Our new version, CleanSweep 95, adds:
  7.  
  8. * easy-to-use wizards, to guide you smoothly through the process of
  9.   uninstalling, archiving, and moving programs;
  10.  
  11. * installation and file usage monitors, to guarantee safer and more
  12.   comprehensive file management;
  13.  
  14. * powerful File Finders that help you locate duplicate files, redundant
  15.   .DLLs, and orphaned system components;
  16.  
  17. * intuitive tools to scrub away obsolete, unused, or unneeded files; and
  18.   
  19. * a handsome, informative new Windows 95 user interface.
  20.  
  21. This Demonstration Edition is a fully-functional version of
  22. CleanSweep 95, with a couple of important exceptions.
  23.  
  24. * The Demonstration Edition will not delete files from your hard
  25.   drive.  You will be able to find out how much space CleanSweep 95
  26.   can save on your hard drive, and you will be able to use some of
  27.   CleanSweep's reporting and analysis features.
  28.  
  29. * The Demonstration Edition does not include a 16-bit version; you MUST
  30.   use this edition under Windows 95.

  36. Quarterdeck will be updating the Demonstration Edition from time to
  37. time, so make sure that you log into CompuServe (GO QUARTERDECK) or the
  38. Quarterdeck BBS in Ireland at (353) (1) 2844381 for updates and product
  39. announcments.

  41. INSTALLATION
  42. ------------
  43. Installing this Demonstration Edition is easy.  Here are the steps:
  44.  
  45. 1) Make sure you're running Microsoft Windows 95; the Demonstration Edition 
  46.    of CleanSweep 95 requires Windows 95.
  47.  
  48. 2) Open the current folder (the one that contains the file you are
  49.    reading now), and click on the Setup icon.  Follow the onscreen
  50.    instructions.
  51.  
  52. 3) After CleanSweep has been completely installed, and after Windows 95
  53.    has been restarted, you may run CleanSweep by clicking on Start, then
  54.    choosing Programs, and then Quartedeck CleanSweep Demo 95.

  56. 4) To remove the installation files, simply type click on the UNDEMO.BAT
  57.    icon in this folder (or type UNDEMO.BAT) at the DOS prompt in this
  58.    same directory.  This will remove all of the files that came with the
  59.    demo, except for UNDEMO.BAT.  A batch file can't delete itself, so
  60.    you'll have to delete UNDEMO.BAT yourself.  Additionally, UNDEMO
  61.    won't delete the file you're reading now (README.1ST) nor the file
  62.    that contains information on ordering CleanSweep 95 (README.TOO).

  64. That's it!

  66. When you're finished with the Demonstration Edition, you can remove it
  67. by going to the Control Panel, and clicking on Add/Remove Programs.
  68. Choose CleanSweep 95 Demo, and click on the Remove button.  If the
  69. Remove Programs applet can't remove everything, simply change to your
  70. Program Files directory, and drag the Quarterdeck CleanSweep folder to
  71. the Recycler.

  73. ORDERING INFORMATION

  75. After you've run the Demonstration Edition of CleanSweep 95, you'll want
  76. to place your order for the FULL PRODUCT. Please contact your local dealer
  77. or alternatively call Quarterdeck Customer Service at (01245) 496699 who
  78. can refer you to a recommended Quarterdeck dealer.
