- DISKMAGIC By Carl Stirland
- =====================================
-
-
- Hello to all you CLI thrashers out there!
-
- I hope that this smallish program (8.5K) will be of use to you.
-
- Once upon a guru lit screen all I wanted to do was save a tiny little file to
- disk, (All say Ahhh).I slipped a disk (no pun intended) into DF1: typed Copy
- whatever to whatever and oh dear the disk was write-protected, so after
- removing the disk and a flick of the tag I tried again only to be greeted
- with the apologetic message:
-
- "Im terribly sorry master, but there seems to be no more room on the disk"
- or words to that effect!!
-
- So this is where DISKMAGIC comes in to being.....
-
- All you have to do is Copy DISKMAGIC to your C directory and type its name in
- the CLI or if you are a glutton for punishment put it in the startup-sequence
- Simple eh!!
-
- Then what you should get is a little gadget at the top of the screen with the
- words DISK-MAGIC. Just Click the gadget to remove the program.
-
- Now whenever a disk is inserted into DF0: through DF3:
- A window will open up and display a few simple things. ie.
-
-
- DRIVE: NAME: BYTES FREE: STATUS:
-
-
- Where....
-
- Drive: is DF0: etc.
-
- Name is the name of the disk in that drive.
- If there is No such drive or there is no disk in the drive then you will
- be informed.
-
- Bytes free is the Number of bytes free on the disk as apposed to the
- Blocks given with INFO which is much clearer.
-
- Status will tell you if the disk is write-protected (W/P).
-
-
- To remove the information just Click Left mouse button any where in the window
-
-
- The program is fully multitasking and will not clog up your CLI window OK!!
- There are times when there is no CLI window open and this program is much
- quicker than using INFO because it operates automatically.
- Some non DOS disks like commercial game disks may give an error and such
- disks will give "???" as their name.
-
- Cheers until we meet again Carl.
