  1. You're gonna LOVE this excellent collection of 
  2. beautifully hand-crafted 3-D Folder and Disk icons.
  3.  
  4. Those of you who are already familiar with 
  5. SelectColorIcons won't need ME to convince them
  6. that this is a worthwhile download.
  7.  
  8. If you haven't yet seen the SelectColorIcons series,
  9. you're in for a rare treat! Although, I must warn you, 
  10. you may never want to go back to normal desktop 
  11. icons again!
  12.  
  13. Try this:
  14. Select a normal Folder icon on your desktop .
  15. Notice how it just darkens? Pretty drab, eh? 
  16. Now, find a fancy icon and select it. Chances are, 
  17. some colors darken, some stay bright, it just looks
  18. messy.
  19.  
  20. The trick is, recognizing this color idiosyncrasy
  21. and integrate it into the overall effect, acheiving
  22. some pretty nifty results when a person Selects
  23. (SingleClicks) the icon. Kinda makes me wonder why
  24. this technique isn't common practice. Recently, a few
  25. software companies have begun to refine their icons
  26. this way for more visual appeal. A few. Very few, 
  27. but at least SOMEBODY's paying attention.

  29. Anyways, this is a collection of, hmmm... about 25
  30. icons. Mostly Disk and Folder types.
  31.  
  32. Included in this set are 10 icons from a new series,
  33. tentively called SelectDidjits - a Folder and Disk 
  34. Icon collection featuring little humanoids (Didjits) 
  35. incorporated into the designs.
  36.  
  37. They are whimsical, and some are even downright
  38. goofy, but most can be used even in a business
  39. environment to impress clients or brighten somebody's
  40. day. You say you've done 13 revisions on that last
  41. document and it STILL has to go through the
  42. committees approval? I've got just the Folder to
  43. send it to them in (Revisions).

  81. These icons are presented to you pasted onto empty folders.
  82. Also, if you open this ReadMe file in ResEdit, all the icons
  83. (and then some) are included in the Icl8 resource. Pretty neat, eh?
  84. For those who have never customized their desktop icons,
  85. simple instructions are included at the end of the ReadMe. 
  86. It's as easy as cut and paste!

  88. I hope these icons will help you get that promotion, boost your
  89. image in your friends eyes, get an A in class or just bring a
  90. smile to your face.

  126. If you've never changed icons on your Mac before
  127. let me quickly walk you through it here...
  128.  
  129. -Select one of the nice new "SelectDidjitIcons".
  130. -Under the File Menu go to "Get Info"
  131. -See the picture of the icon at the top left 
  132.   of the info window? Click on it once. You'll see
  133.   a thin frame border appear. Good.
  134. -Under the Edit Menu go to "Copy"
  135. -Close the Info Window.
  136. -Select the old drab icon that you want
  137.   to replace.
  138. -Under File Menu, "Get Info"
  139. -Select the picture of the icon at top left
  140.   of this Info Window.
  141. -Under Edit Menu, go to "Paste"
  142. -Close that info window and the change is done!
