  10.  Over the past few years many Amiga software authors including myself have
  11. used Heddley to create AmigaGuide files. When I registered Heddley way back
  12. in July 1995 Edd sent me the latest version (V1.20ß) that he had completed.
  13. Though there are a few minor imperfections in the program, considering that
  14. it was a beta release it has proved extremely stable in everyday use. This
  15. version also includes new features such as error checking.

  17.  Many years have now elapsed since its last release on Aminet. Having been
  18. delighted with Heddley I wondered what had become of the program and its
  19. author. I knew that the details in the documentation were completely out of
  20. date, but after a few minutes searching with Alta-Vista I found his current
  21. web site which included a current email address.

  23.  I wrote to him to find out what the current situation with Heddley was.
  24. Sadly it is no longer being developed as Edd has moved onto other things
  25. (see his web site for details). However, he did generously agree that I
  26. could upload this newer version to Aminet that has a number of new features
  27. that make it worthy of inclusion.

  30.      There are some important points to note about this distribution.

  32.  All the address's mentioned in the documentation are now out of date. His
  33. current email and web site address's are at the top of this readme.
  34.  
  35.  The GUIFront library (V38.1), and GUIFront preferences Editor by Michael
  36. Berg are also required. These can be found on Aminet dev/gui/gfront12.lha.

  38.  I have not taken over the development of Heddley, I am merely acting as a
  39. go-between to get this new version on to Aminet. Unfortunately, I do not
  40. have the necessary programming ability either.

  45.  The copyright status of Heddley has not changed and the shareware fee is
  46. still the same as mentioned in the documentation. Though I doubt there will
  47. ever be a new version of Heddley, in my opinion it is well worth this small
  48. amount. Please contact Edd directly by email should you want to send him a
  49. shareware payment.

  53.  Installation. Simplicity itself, Make sure you install GUIFront which comes
  54. with its own installer script, then just drag the entire Heddley drawer to
  55. your hard drive.
