- ChangeMemPri V1.2 by Chris Hodges
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
- Introduction
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- This tiny tool can change the memory priority of any memory node available
- in your system. The priority determines which memory is prefered to be
- allocated if it's free.
-
- Why could it be useful to change the priority? Let's say you've got 32 MB
- on your Cyberstorm and 8 MB on your A4000 mainboard. Now you need the
- largest block available for ShapeShifter. During bootup, your CS memory is
- filled up, leaving just about 28 MB free on the CS board but the 8 MB on
- your motherboard remain untouched. Now, if you lower the priority of the
- CS-Ram or increase the priority of the mainboard ram, the big 32 MB chunk
- doesn't get filled during boot up, leaving it for your use with
- ShapeShifter.
-
- Requirements
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- ChangeMemPri needs Kick 2.04 or higher.
-
- Usage
- ~~~~~
- ChangeMemPri [NAME] yourmemory [PRI] newpri [START hexadr] [LIST]
-
- or just
-
- ChangeMemPri
-
- You might have to use quotes if the name of the memory node contains spaces
- (e.g. "chip memory" or "expansion memory").
-
- If you have got two or more memory chunks in your system carrying the same
- name, you better provide a startadress to identify the board more clearly
- (e.g 'ChangeMemPri "expansion memory" 40 START 8000000' will change the
- priority of the CyberStorm Memory Board to 40).
-
- Specifying the optional LIST switch or running ChangeMemPri without
- parameters returns a list of all the memory nodes available.
-
