- XXEncode and XXDecode are two programs that facilitate the sending
- of binary files through network mailers. These have the same basic
- function as UUEncode and UUDecode, but are designed to eliminate the
- problems associated with the characters UUEncode uses. See the
- XXEncode.ReadMe file in the archive for details on this.
-
- These Amiga versions are CLI-only and have several useful options that
- make them a pleasure to use (no, really!). If a window-based version
- (mouse- rather than keyboard-oriented) becomes a desire of several
- users, I will implement such a version.
-
- The biggest audience these programs are intended for are those that
- use the ibm VM/XA network systems, which notoriously cannot use UUEncode
- because of character translation problems. I happen to be one of these
- people, so I know the feeling of not being able to use the UUEncode
- program. (the vtvm1 address below is the cursed VM machine)
-
- Additionally, any Amiga users that frequently use UUEncode should give
- XXEncode a try to see how much more user-friendly (for lack of a better
- term) it is....many options, multi-colored-text messages, strong error
- control, checksum facility, etc.
