  4. I've just released a new version of xpdf, my Portable Document Format
  5. (PDF) viewer for X.
  6.  
  7. Xpdf runs under the X Window System on Unix, VMS, and OS/2.  The non-X
  8. components of the package (pdftops, pdftotext, etc.) also run on Win32
  9. systems.
  10.  
  11. *** NEW -- Anti-aliased fonts!
  12. *** This release uses t1lib to render embedded Type 1/1C fonts (and
  13. *** the base 14 fonts).

  15. Other noticeable changes:
  16.  
  17. * Added "backward" and "forward" buttons.
  18. * Added fit-page and fit-page-width zoom factors.
  19. * Type 1C fonts are converted to Type 1 and embedded in PostScript.
  20. * Support vertical Japanese text.
  21. * Added Japanese text support (EUC-JP) to pdftotext.
  22. * Initial support for PDF 1.3.

  27. compile for UNIX, VMS, OS/2, and Win32.
