  6. This is beta software! Don't use it if you are not an experienced
  7. Amiga user, and/or can't stand annoying bugs or crashes galore.

  10. beta versions.  No public announcements will be done about
  11. the beta testing, and -- please -- do not spread information
  12. about the beta to any public forums for now.

  20. This beta version will timeout and refuse to work on 1-May-99.
  21. Note that there may be NO UPDATE on a timeout, so please don't
  22. replace an existing NetInfo installation with a beta.

  24. A note regarding crashes:  NetInfo II keeps writing
  25. information to the HD for caching purposes, so program
  26. crashes during operation are inherently violent and may
  27. damage your file system. It is absolutely recommended that
  28. you install NI2 on a HD partition with no valuable data.

  30. Another note: You manually have to install the provided
  31. Textinput classes to MUI:Libs/MUI/. Previous classes
  32. have a bug in a certain method used by NI2 which
  33. causes severe Nuke«.

  37. NetInfo II is a network information viewer utility. It integrates
  38. the functionality of the well known standalone TRACEROUTE, PING, WHOIS 
  39. and FINGER programs into a seamless GUI application.

  43. - "quick traceroute": Sends a series of packet in quick
  44.   succession to get a route overview very fast, then
  45.   does accurate timings for the individual hops
  46.  
  47. - graphical display of hop min/last/max timings
  48.  
  49. - integrated smart WHOIS function: double-click on
  50.   a IP, Host or Network column to automatically receive
  51.   WHOIS information for the given object. NetInfo
  52.   determines the WHOIS host to query.

  54. - automatically retrieves WHOIS network information
  55.   for hosts
  56.  
  57. - automatically scans destination host for Web (HTTP) and FTP
  58.   server versions
  59.  
  60. - history for all queried hosts
