  11. THE AWALE
  12.  
  13.  Awale is an ancient  African  game,  certainly  one of the oldest  reflection
  14.  games of  the  humanity.
  15.  Its  rules are  simple, but the  strategies to be  successful  can be  complex
  16.  and  subtle.
  17.  The  program  can be  run  under  Windows 95 or  Windows 3.1x+Win32s and needs
  18.  about 1500 Kb of free memory space.
  19.  
  20.  To install it, just launch 'install' and enter the  directory name you want to
  21.  install 'Awale' into.
  22.  The Microsoft WinG Runtime is also installed if necessary.

  24.  If you encounter some problems during starting of the  software, try to launch
  25.  it  while  maintaining the "Ctrl" key depressed, in order to disable music and
  26.  sound effects.

  29. WHAT'S NEW ?
  30.  
  31.  This new version offers additional features that had been suggested by some
  32.  users.
  33.  First, it's now  possible  to view the  played holes history list,  and to get
  34.  back at any point of the game. You can also save or load a  game. This  allows
  35.  you to try  several  strategies  for a  single  playboard  configuration,  and
  36.  therefore to improve your level...

  38.  Registering this version allows you to play  against  the  "Grand Master" game
  39.  level. This level is now configurable in terms of depth and computing time.

  41.  A great number of users write to us to  communicate their enthusiasm for Awale
  42.  and inform us about their own  variations  of the rules. We want to thank them
  43.  here.
  44.  In order to create a rules and variations database, we integrated to Awale the
  45.  capability of defining your own rules. If you know an interesting rule, define
  46.  it, test it, and send us the  definition file, we'll then be able to integrate
  47.  this new rule to the next release of Awale, and propose it on our Web site.

  49.  It's now possible to print a game manual describing all the rules known by the
  50.  software, as well as the history list.

  53. DISTRIBUTION

  55.  Copy  and  non-commercial  distribution of this  software are allowed, only on
  56.  condition that no file of this package is modified or omitted.
  57.  The  shareware  version  of  Awale  grants  you the access to all the features
  58.  necessary to play.
  59.  However, you can't access :
  60.    -  the high levels of computer game,
  61.    -  the games and rules saving.

  66.  An US$10 fee is asked if you want to  continue  playing  Awale after a 3-weeks
  67.  trial delay.
  68.  Your  registration  number  will be  sent as  soon as  your  fee is  received.

  70.  the features. This code is personal and must not be diffused.
