- Intro
- ─────
- After working for months and saving all the money you can, you have just
- purchased your brand new Hyper-Racer SE. Having taken it for a test run, it
- outperformed any expectations you had. Boy, this thing can fly! Now what good
- is a hyper-racer without being a member of Force-10? Knowing you'll only be
- accepted into the Force-10 gang if you can ride the information super highway
- you set out for the ride of your life...
-
- Aim of the game
- ───────────────
- Your main objective is to pilot your hyper-racer over the information
- super highway avoiding the holes in the road and jumping the abysses which lay
- in your path. If you can ride the information super highway then you will be
- accepted into Force-10 otherwise you won't. To test your skills Force-10 have
- specified sections of the information super highway that you must complete, you
- can do these in any order as long as you complete them.
-
- How to Play
- ───────────
- The controls for your hyper-racer are simple, the craft can only go
- forward and veer to the left or right, it can also jump. It has a top speed of
- 204km/h. To control the acceleration use the up and down arrow keys. To veer
- left or right use the left and right arrow keys. To jump use the space bar.
- Once you finish a level you automatically go onto the next level but
- every time you exit the game and restart it you begin from level 1 again. You
- can skip the levels you have already played by pressing the "W" key, this will
- "Warp" you onto the next level.
- You can press escape at any time to abandon your hyper-racer if you
- can't hack the pressure any longer.
-
- Minimum System Requirements
- ───────────────────────────
- The absolute minimum requirements for the game to run are:
- 286 or better, 512KB ram, 1.4MB Hard Disk Space, VGA or better graphics card
- and monitor.
- To run at a decent speed we recommend a 386 or better computer.
-
- Registering
- ───────────
- If the fist five levels weren't hard enough for you, if they didn't
- truly challenge you, if they didn't turn you into a dribbling slob then you'll
- want to register to receive the next 15 levels of fun packed entertainment not
- to mention the 10 brilliant Sound Blaster soundtracks
- ..Or.. Alternately if you are a programmer then you couldn't possibly live
- without the source code for this unbelievable game.
- If you're asking yourself where can I find out more then have a look at
- ORDER.TXT now!
-
- Troubleshooting
- ───────────────
- Problem: Sound Blaster Init Error: Reboot and try again
- Cause: Sound Blaster Interface problem
- Solution: 1. Reboot your computer and cross your fingers
- 2. Check your BLASTER environment string, (in the AUTOEXEC.BAT
- file)
- 3. Turn off the Sound for the game by typing
- SET BLASTER = (and press enter)
- before running the game...
-
- Problem: Run Time error #200
- Cause: Division by zero
- Solution: reboot your computer and cross your fingers...
-
- Problem: Game runs too slow
- Cause: Slow Hard Disk, TSR's, Smartdrive, 286 computer
- Solution: 1. with DOS 6 reboot and hold down the left shift key when it
- says "Starting MS-DOS" then let go when you see the command
- prompt, then try running the game
- ..OR.. make a system disk and reboot using that
- (see you DOS manual for more information on creating and
- using system/boot disks).
- 2. Turn off Sound Blaster Sound (Type Set BLASTER=) before
- running the game.
- Note: Don't run this off a floppy disk if you want Sound
- Blaster Sound, it will run too slow.
-
- Problem: Game doesn't detect my Sound Blaster
- Cause: No Blaster Enviroment String Set
- Solution: Edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file and place the line
- Set BLASTER=A.. I.. D.. T..
- (See your Sound Blaster manual for more information on setting
- the Blaster Enviroment).
-
- Problem: The Game detects my Sound Blaster but does't play any music
- during the game.
- Cause: Blaster Enviroment set incorrectly
- Solution: 1. Make sure the Blaster enviroment string is set correctly
- 2. If that doesn't help then replace CTVDSK.DRV with the
- version supplied with your Sound Blaster Card.
-
- Problem: The game is too large
- Cause: All the data files
- Solution: If you don't have a Sound Blaster then you can delete the
- Sound Blaster files (CTVDSK.DRV, M1.HR, M2.HR) this will
- free up about 800KB of disk space.
-
- Problem: Not listed above
- Solution: On Internet email seano@insane.apana.org.au and let me know
- about it.
