  96. What is CRIME FIGHTER?
  97. ──────────────────────
  98. Crime Fighter is a game for up to four players. In contrast to
  99. many other games you don't fight against crimes, but you try to
  100. commit as many of them as possible. For example you can play
  101. pickpocket, raid supermarkets and hotels, steal cars, kidnap
  102. children, raid banks, attack mail trains, and so on. Because
  103. you are in a big town you have many different possibilities for
  104. this. When you have a high standing already you are also able
  105. to sign on gangsters that join your gang. This gangsters then
  106. can be trained or equipped with weapons (for example with
  107. pistols or machine guns).
  108. Your aim is to seize the power in the underworld. But the way
  109. there is very dangerous, particularly since the other players
  110. try exactly the same. But also the police are hard on your
  111. heels.

  124. The included documentation crime.doc is a little bit extensive.
  125. Probably you won't like to read it before you play Crime Fighter
  126. the first time. Therefore here is a short introduction, so you
  127. can form a little idea of how the game works.
  128.  
  129. You start the program with the command: crime  [ENTER]
  130.  
  131. In this game you put yourself in position of a gangster just
  132. now released from prison. But you still stand on the lowest step
  133. of your career. The other gangsters take you for a failure and a
  134. coward. Your aim is to seize the leadership of the underworld.
  135. You achieve this by committing as many crimes as possible.
  136. For every crime that you commit, you get one point. When you
  137. have received some points, your rank is raised and your reputation
  138. in the underworld increases.
  139. Winner of the game is the first player who reaches the rank "Boss
  140. of the underworld".

  142. At the beginning you have to select the number of players.
  143. After this every player should enter his name and the name of
  144. his gang. Then for every player the characteristics are defined.

  146. characteristics. After this procedures the game can begin.
  147. The players play one after another. At the beginning of each
  148. round a big menu appears in which you can select the following
  149. actions:

  158. The most important action here is "go through town".
  159. Every player can select this action only one time per round.
  160. Then the next player is on turn.
  161. A from above visible town appears. Your figure is displayed as a
  162. little white man or a blue car, if you own one already.
  163. You move this figure with the mouse by pressing the direction
  164. buttons in the right part of the screen or by using the cursor
  165. keys on the keyboard.

  167. When you enter a building you always get a selection of several
  168. actions to do. If you want, try some possibilities for committing
  169. crimes. If you press the button "map" or hit the key <F1>, a map
  170. appears on which you can click on the building about which you
  171. want to be informed. Then you get a list of actions that you
  172. can do in the corresponding building. You have only a limited
  173. number of steps available, however. By moving with feet you have
  174. altogether 25 steps, but it can increase up to 46 steps depending
  175. on your car. After consumption of these steps your turn is over
  176. and the next player gets his chance.

  179. course of the game in a short way. In the documentation there
  180. are far more descriptions of course.

  232. ===== Installation =====================================

  234. Since  Crime Fighter  can  only be run from a  hard drive,  it must be
  235. installed on a hard drive first. To save disk  space the  files are in
  236. a  compressed  format  also.   The  installation  program  copies  and
  237. uncompresses  the  files  for  you.  To  start  it, simply type in the
  238. following command:

  240.    install [ENTER]
  241.  
  242. After loading  the software you are asked for the  directory  name  in
  243. which  you  want  to  install  the  game.  If you agree with the given
  244. directory  "C:\CRIME"  you simply have to press  [ENTER].  After  this
  245. selection the installation goes on automatically.

  247. If you want to remove the game from your hard drive, simply delete the
  248. directory in which you have installed Crime Fighter. For example:
