- Welcome to this preview version of Voodoo, the premiere Amiga email
- program. Please, read this text fully through before continuing.
- First of all, lets get the spec sheet out of the way:
-
- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-
- · AmigaOS Release 3.0 (V39) or newer.
- · At least 2MB of RAM.
- · Hard drive recommended.
- · Some kind of an Internet connection.
-
- PROGRAM FEATURES
-
- · Fully multithreaded. View and write several messages at once.
- · Integrated MIME support allows easy attachment of any type of files,
- making true multimedia E-Mail possible.
- · Works with any TCP/IP stack or UUCP system.
- · Uses external message delivery programs to adapt to any kind of system.
- · Extensive ARexx interface allows the use of any text editor.
- · Easy to use, font sensitive interface using the ClassAct gadget system.
- · Extensive on-line help.
- · Can internally display a multitude of data formats with the help of the
- AmigaOS 3.0 Datatype subsystem.
- · Can use external viewers to handle files not understood by Datatypes.
- · Opens on any public screen.
- · Fast-to-use icon speedbar for common operations.
- · Built-in addressbook, with a possibility to interface to an external
- address database.
- · Unlimited number of folders, with automatic importing of new mail
- based on header matching.
- · Tested by a small team of expert Amiga users, using the latest
- Amiga debugging utilities.
-
- LIMITATIONS OF THIS DEMO
-
- · No external addressbook interface.
- · Attaching files to messages is not possible using an external
- editor.
- · A maximum of one attached file when sending messages.
- · Can not automatically import new mail to folders other than the
- primary.
- · ARexx interface restricted to the most basic commands only.
-
-
- To install Voodoo, just click on the Install script. You can also just
- run it from the directory. The Installer will copy the ClassAct libraries
- to your system and optionally install AmiPOP for you.
-
- Many of you may have heard of Voodoo before, and expect some things of it.
- I hope the program lives up to the expectations. One thing that was on the
- spec sheet from the start, but of which you can not see a trace in the
- program, is PGP support. This is one of the main things I have yet to
- implement, it being quite tricky to integrate with MIME, but it will be
- in the registered Voodoo Pro version. One more reason to buy that program.
-
- Oh, one thing. Voodoo's mail folders are _not_ files. They're directories,
- with every message in a separate file. Keep that in mind while configuring..
- If you want to import your old UNIX mailbox format mail folders (such as
- those from AmigaElm) to Voodoo, that can be done simply by configuring that
- file as the mail spool file and then "get new mail". Make a backup of the
- folder first, since Voodoo will wipe the spool file after import.
-
- One thing not included in this distribution for legality reasons is a mail
- delivery agent for sending messages out from your machine. I would recommend
- SMTPpost from INetUtils, on Aminet as:
- IU-14-as225.lha comm/net 387K+AS225r2 SMTP/NNTP utilities v1.4 INetUtils
- IU-14-amitcp.lha comm/tcp 392K+AmiTCP SMTP/NNTP utilities v1.4 INetUtils
-
- Helpful notes about installing SMTPpost can be found in Voodoo.guide if the
- INetUtils documentation is not sufficient.
-
- The included BOOPSI gadget and image classes are part of ClassAct,
- copyright Phantom Development, written by Chris Aldi, Tim Aston, Greg Block,
- and yours truly.
-
- I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of my beta testers for a job
- well done:
