  4.  Unlicensed copies of Wilson WindowWare products are 100% fully functional.
  5.  We make them this way so that you can have a real look at them, and then
  6.  decide whether they fit your needs or not.  Our entire business depends
  7.  on your honesty.  If you use it, we expect you to pay for it.  We feel
  8.  that if we treat you right, you will treat us right.

  10.  Unlicensed copies of our products do have a pesky registration reminder
  11.  screen that pops up whenever you start the program.  This shouldn't
  12.  really affect your evaluation of our software.

  14.  We're sure that once you see the incredible quality of our software,
  15.  you will dig out your credit card, pick up the phone, call the nice
  16.  people at our 800 number and register the software.

  18.  When you pay for the shareware you like, you are voting with your

  27.  responsible for anything at all.  Nothing.  Even if we are held 
  28.  responsible, the limit of our liability is the licensing fees

  35.                HOW TO INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE
  36.  
  37.   Use our snazzy setup program...
  38.  
  39.         1) Close down all extraneous Windows applications.  
  40.            (You do have to be in Windows to run WSETUP.EXE)
  41.  
  42.         2) Double-Click on the WSETUP.EXE program.  (If you have the
  43.            WinCheck product in front of you, the setup program is still
  44.            called SETUP.EXE)
  45.  
  46.         3) When the setup program asks for a directory, specify initial 
  47.            directory, or accept the given default.
  48.  
  49.         4) When the screen comes up that asks you what you want to
  50.            install, do your selections, or just hit the INSTALL ALL
  51.            button.  Hit the OK button to continue.
  52.  
  53.  
  54.           ******************** MANUAL INSTALL *********************
  55.  
  56.       If you cannot use the snazzy setup program, and must do a manual
  57.       install.....good luck.  Basically installing our products without
  58.       going through the setup program is "unsupported", as installation
  59.       of Windows products does get tricky.  However as to not leave you
  60.       completely in the lurch....
  61.  
  62.       1) Most files to be installed by the installation program end in
  63.          an underscore "_".   The files might be compressed.
  64.  
  65.              If you received the files on a DISK, the probability is HIGH
  66.              that you must expand the files with our WEXPAND (see below)
  67.              program before use.
  68.  
  69.             If you received the files packaged in a ZIP file, the
  70.             probability is LOW. and you may simply rename the files to the
  71.             correct name.
  72.  
  73.          If you try to expand a file that was not compressed, the expand
  74.          program will NOT give an error message, and will NOT correctly
  75.          process the file.  In general, if the output from the expand
  76.          program is smaller than the file that went in, the expand program
  77.          should not be used.
  78.  
  79.          By examining the files with our Browser (possibly included with
  80.          the package) program, or basically any tool that allows you to
  81.          look at the file in hex, one can quickly learn how to determine
  82.          if the file is compressed or not.  If you can read *any* text
  83.          in the morass of funny looking symbols, the file is probably not
  84.          compressed.  If the characters seem completely random, the it
  85.          probably is compressed.
  86.  
  87.       2) The files (generally) must either be expanded into files with the
  88.          correct names, or must be renamed, prior to use.
  89.  
  90.       3) In general, the DLL files should go into your WINDOWS directory,
  91.          or else some directory mentioned in your DOS path statement.
  92.  
  93.       4) The BROWSER.EXE program may be used to view the *.MAN manual
  94.          files.  It is recommended that you put the BROWSER program in
  95.          the same directory you put the DLL files.
  96.  
  97.       5) You may want to add to the WIN.INI [Extensions] section the
  98.          following lines:

  123.                     UPDATE POLICY
  124.  
  125.  It is the policy of Wilson WindowWare to protect faithful customers, and to
  126.  derive the majority of our income via sales to new customers rather than
  127.  continually attempting to extract more funds from existing customers.  Of
  128.  course we must at least cover our costs or we could not stay in business
  129.  bringing you new and updated software.
  130.  
  131.  Wilson WindowWare frequently updates it products.  There are various kinds
  132.  of updates, including Major updates, Minor updates, and bug-fix updates.
  133.  
  134.  Minor and bug-fix updates for our shareware products are free -- subject
  135.  only to our reasonable shipping and and handling charges for disks. As we
  136.  are not in the disk selling business, you may find that shareware vendors
  137.  specializing is disk sales can easily sell disks cheaper than we can.  On
  138.  the other hand, we *always* have the most recent versions of our software.
  139.  Our shipping and handling charges for update disks are as follows:
  140.  
  141.      10.00  US and Canada for the first product,
  142.       5.00  US and Canada for each additional product.
  143.       9.50  Surcharge for shipping outside of US and Canada.
  144.  
  145.  If you obtain a minor or bug-fix update from Compuserve or other online
  146.  service, a BBS, a shareware disk vendor or from another source, there is
  147.  no charge from us (of course you will have to pay the on-line service fees,
  148.  disk vendors fees, or at least pay your phone bill for downloading from
  149.  a BBS). In addition, you may use a single disk to update any number of
  150.  copies of a product.
  151.  
  152.  The policy and pricing for Major shareware updates vary.  Depending on the
  153.  nature of the upgrade, length of time since the previous major upgrade,
  154.  desirability of new features added, the extent of revisions to the printed
  155.  manuals (if any), work involved and possible price changes for new users,
  156.  we may or may not charge fees.  Since it is difficult to determine what the
  157.  cost of future major updates will be, and since we do not wish to commit 
  158.  ourselves to the uncertainty of the future, we have provided information on
  159.  the cost of major past updates here so that you can see our track record,
  160.  and possibly feel reassured about the future.

  245.  SOFTWARE LICENSE

  247.  Wilson WindowWare software is not and has never been public domain
  248.  software, nor is it free software.

  250.  Non-licensed users are granted a limited license to use our
  251.  software on a 21-day trial basis for the purpose of determining
  252.  whether the software is suitable for their needs.  Any use
  253.  of our software, except for the initial 21-day trial, requires
  254.  registration.  The use of unlicensed copies of our software,
  255.  outside of the initial 21-day trial, by any person, business,
  256.  corporation, government agency or any other entity is
  257.  strictly prohibited.

  259.  A single user license permits a user to use one copy of the licensed
  260.  software product only on a single computer.  Licensed users may use
  261.  the program on different computers, but may not use the program
  262.  on more than one computer at the same time.

  264.  No one may modify or patch any of our executable files in any way,
  265.  including but not limited to decompiling, disassembling, or otherwise
  266.  reverse engineering our software programs.

  268.  A limited license is granted to copy and distribute our shareware
  269.  software only for the trial use of others, subject to the above
  270.  limitations, and also the following:

  272.   1)    The software must be copied in unmodified form, complete
  273.         with the file containing this license information.

  275.   2)    The full machine-readable documentation must be included
  276.         with each copy.

  280.         from Wilson WindowWare.

  285.         A) Operators of electronic bulletin board systems (sysops)
  286.            may make our products available for downloading only as
  287.            long as the above conditions are met.  An overall or
  288.            time-dependent charge for the use of the bulletin board
  289.            system is permitted as long as there is not a specific
  290.            charge for the download of our software.

  292.         B) Vendors of user-supported or shareware software approved by
  293.            the ASP may distribute our products, subject to the
  294.            above conditions, without specific permission.  Non-
  295.            approved vendors may distribute our products only after
  296.            obtaining written permission from Wilson WindowWare.
  297.            Such permission is usually granted.  Please write for
  298.            details (enclose your catalog).  Vendors may charge a
  299.            disk duplication and handling fee, which, when pro-rated
  300.            to each individual product, may not exceed eight dollars.

  302.         C) Non-profit user groups may distribute copies of the our
  303.            products to their members, subject to the above conditions,
  304.            without specific permission.  Non-profit groups may collect
  305.            a disk duplication fee not to exceed five dollars.

  307.   LIMITED WARRANTY

  309.   Wilson WindowWare guarantees your satisfaction with this
  310.   product for a period of 90 days from the date of original
  311.   purchase.  If you are unsatisfied with the product
  312.   within that time period, return the package in saleable
  313.   condition to the place of purchase for a full refund.

  315.   Wilson WindowWare warrants that all disks provided are
  316.   free from defects in material and workmanship, assuming
  317.   normal use, for a period of 90 days from the date of
  318.   purchase.

  320.   Wilson WindowWare warrants that the program will perform
  321.   in substantial compliance with the documentation supplied
  322.   with the software product.  If a significant defect in
  323.   the product is found, the purchaser may return the
  324.   product for a refund.  In no event will such a refund
  325.   exceed the purchase price of the product.
